What's with some of the prices of used 06 DC's? I have an 01 AC that I love but the DC would suit my needs, two kids now, better. I keep looking and looking and I just can't seem to find a deal yet for what I want. Right now there is Darrell Waltrip Edition for sale locally for 24,000 that has 35000 on it. But there's also an 06, SR5 with 40,000 that they're asking 29,000 for! It probably cost that much new. I keep thinking I can find a nice one for 18 or 19. Is that just not reasonable or should I just buy a new one, they don't cost much more. Local dealer had a nice SR5, DC, 4.7, 4x4 with a sticker of 28,000. What to do, what to do.

I just checked www.carmax.com in my area and there where 22 06 SR5 DC's between $17,000 and $18,000, keep looking..
DC are hard to come by here in Indy. I wanted a 2005 or a 2006 but ended up with a 2004 for $13k. I had to have a truck for my landscaping business as Toyota bought out my Tacoma on a recall. While the price was alright she did come with over 100,00 miles which for a Tundra is just getting broken in. I have had a lot of maintenance issues related to high mileage such as O2 sensors, a catalytic convertor, and an oil seal on my rear axle. Other than that I expect the truck will run to at least 500,000 miles.
I got lucky and found the paperwork in the glove compartment that detailed the original owners and I contacted them to ask them about the truck and the maintenance. According to the original owners the truck was maintained by Toyota but later after I bought the truck I got a copy of the maintenance records from Toyota and found that this was not exactly true. No major problems but I do have to stay on top of things.

They are around 20K and up here in VA. Decent AC's are 15k to 19K.
The price went up when the gas prices fell. They said if the gas goes bakc to $4 per gallon the proice of the Tundras would fall & the Tacoma's would prevail.

Keep looking. I just got a nicely equipped 2006 DC, 4 wheel drive, only 15K miles, Toyota Certified for a bit under $20K. The dealer actually had two at the time, basically identical except for color.
Dealers/sellers can ask whatever they want but that doesn't mean squat. You can easily find the truck you want in your price range with a little shopping. I tried to sell mine awhile back ('05 4x4 with 50k miles) and best I could get was $16k. I just kept it because that's worse depreciation than a Kia.
