Default 06 DC JBL Stereo

I have an 06 DC with the JBL 6 cd changer/cassette and radio. The cd and cassette just took a crap. Toyota said the unit is not the greatest and will cost $360 to replace with the same unit.

My question is : Do I replace with the same unit or buy another brand. Will another brand work with the steering wheel controls and the rear audio system?

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Aftermarket stereos will work with the JBL amp and speakers as long as you have the correct adapter harness. The same goes for the steering wheel controls. You can go to an online store like Crutchfield and they can set you up with all of the parts you will need.

I have my stock one still. It's in a box in the garage wrapped up and works perfectly. $250 and it's yours! Only removed it for a DD DVD player.

If you get a replacement radio, you'll need the Pac Tato harness to connect to the factory amp and Pac Tato steering wheel adapter to retain your factory steering wheel controls. Both are about $100 each if purchased separately. That's not including the aftermarket radio.

If you purchase both adapters and radio from crutchfield, they offer a discount. It's worth looking into.
