You are looking at lots of money for less than 100 hp gain (assuming its a 2005+ 4.7).... not worth it in my opinion. If I wanted more power that bad I would transplant a 5.7.
I have to agree with you.
If I was to mod my sequoia witch is vvti motor, I would find 5.7 donor truck or suv and go from there. I've done similar set up with BMW.
hi, great idea.
keep the gen1 & add the 5.7!
i wonder who would be able to do this install.
since everything including the wiring for everything would also need to be changed.
it wouldn't be a simple swap.
it would become 1 sick monster.
if your tundra was kept mint in & out.
if it cost you 10g's to put in a newer 5.7 motro, tranny, drive shaft and rear, with low mile's,
it would be worth it.
anyone who does this, or know of a shop that could do it.
i would love to keep that info, and in time, do this.
what a super cool tundra it would be.
go to a show, open the hood of a gen1, & see a 5.7w/ a trd s/c.
or even better show up at your dealership for a oil change.
i would love to see there face's.
i would bet they whole place would be at your gen1 with a look of amazement.

Probably the easiest way to do this would be to find a complete totaled out 07+ Tundra and start the swapping!

hi, i looked into this. 50 to 75shot will be the max.
but long term, you will shorten your life of your tundra,
to a few years only, if you use it more than a few times.
if you do buy this please buy the right kit. don't go cheapo.
you will be looking for a new truck sooner than later.
go to a shop that has installed many of these.
you just might throw a rod, right through your hood.
good luck,
gorilla

You must not have looked very hard considering that the 4.7 doesnt have any pushrods.... come on gorilla.....

If you think it's going to shorten the life that much the engine must be junk. I don't know if the 4.7 has any forged internals, but a small shot with a proper tune will give you more than "a few times."
I've got a couple guys that have the Supercharger for the 5.7 installed with Doug Thorley headers, exhaust, and a UNICHIP PnP that we sell and are running closer to 580+hp, not sure what that would be at the wheels but it is really impressive. I was surprised that just adding the exhaust to the TRD S/C on that 5.7 added a noticeable bump in HP. Also the supercharger installed isn't $7-8k its right at $6k. Still alot of dough but you forget it the second you get in and drive :-).

Not speaking for Gorilla, but I believe he was talking about the connecting rods. Never seen a pushrod come out (not saying they will not), but have seen connecting rods exit the block several times (chevys and fords).
And how many connecting rods would go through a hood? None... Never even heard of one. Only through the side of the block.... and most stay attached to the crank and break off near the wrist pin. Then go through the side.... never up.... I appreciate the pity on Gorilla though.... but I have to again say that he is wrong.....as in most circumstances.....
