Default goodyear tire problems?

so about 9 months ago i replaced 2 tires on my 01 tundra. moved the back ones to the front and new ones went to the back. so i had 4 goodyear forteos. got my alignment done, everything was dandy. went a couple of weeks on them and the ride started getting bumpy. thought the front tire was off balance so i went back. turns out the steel belt in one had broken, rubber still intact tho, leaving a bump in one tire. so i swapped out my spare for that one and left to get a new tire some other day. fast forward 2 months, im on the highway, and the other tire pops, shredding the steel belt and making a big ol hole in it. luckily i was able to change the tire quickly and was out of there hobbling on my bad tire slowly back.

so, has anybody had a problem with goodyear? i saw online something about a silent recall but ended up changing all my tires for coopers so i dont have to worry about tire separation.
...unfortunately my spare is now a 2 month old forteo tire...

Sounds like I am not alone. Although I don't have the same problem as you... I think, I have problems with my Good Year Wranglers. I posted this thread a while back to try and get some info and ideas, however still have them on my truck. I have been debating on wether or not I should lift it and put larger tires on, however I am thinking whatever I do I am going to go with BF Goodrich's or Toyo Open Countries. You might find some useful stuff in here.

Steering Problem... anyone out there to confirm this?

i've had that problem with some nitto street tires, within a month i had to replace all four tires and they were a weird size 245/30r20 so finding replacements was a pain in rural america. i had to drive on one for 300 some miles to get a replacement, it was on a benz so it didn't have a spare just a can of fix a flat and a small compressor.

I have a set of goodyear wranglers on my truck now and they seem to do alright.

I've got fortera tripletreds and they're great tires and I have no complaints about them. The last truck I had I put yokohama geolandars on it and after a year they stopped gripping on wet roads but the goodyears are the same now as they were new so I am happy.
