Direct swap 2003 v8 motor into a 2000?

Does anyone know if a 2003 v8 will directly replace a 2000 v8?

My engine needs to be replaced due to blown head gasket that ended up scouring one cylinder wall and doing something to mess up an exhaust valve. I've found a 2003 motor at a reasonable price but I need to know if it's a direct fit.

From what I have read and heard it will not work. The 00-02 motors differ from the 03 and up motors because of a "drive by wire" type system that controls the throttle. You would need to swap over computers, add some different wires, and a few more vacuum hoses from what I have heard.

Reuse the intake manifold/throttle body,wiring harness,exhaust manifolds,etc. from your old engine. Like apimpdad mentioned there was a change in the drive-by-wire system on the throttle body.

So if I use the 2003 computer (I'm getting it w/the engine) I would also need to replace my throttle with one that provides the drive by wire function. If I did that what else might need to be replaced?
