How about for protecting the mechanic from slitting their wrists?

Seriously, from sheet metal cuts on the arms? Maybe? Or maybe it keeps people from getting slits on their foreheads!

Hi, I have a 2005 Tundra double cab 4X4 v8, Ive looked all over the internet and Tundra forums and no one can answer my question. There is a rubber strip atop the inner fender on the passenger side "only" its about an inch er so wide and runs the length of the innerfender. Its held in by small black plastic push plugs. As far as I can tell its on all 1st gen Tundras passenger side only.
I have listed the link where ive asked the entire tundra forum and no one seems to know, theres lots of theorys but were all dyeing to know. There is a crappy picture on the link of this thread. under hybridtoys, thats my handle. listed "What the heck is this for?"

What the heck is this for!!??!?!?

If you could let us know Im really lost as to its perpose. thanks

It just occured to me , maybe someone said to one of the engineers "make sure they are properly sealed to prevent corrosion" and they pulled an "engineers joke" on us all? It was probably the same guy that designs the parts that make you say "Why the hell did they do it like that?"

Or some whacky-assed Federal Regulation stating the percentage of a vehicle's body weight that must be composed of rubber.
