My 2000 has no muffler, just the resonator a length of pipe where the muffer would have been and a tailpipe, I got it in this configuration and decided no custom exhaust was needed it has a nice "bark" but is not overboard I will try to get a sound bite on here for you in the next day or two. Scott
i once had a dronemaster 40 after the resonator with no pipe first, then added a nice dump. it sounded awesome until i lived with it for a few months. funny thing was on the freeway i noticed people trying to get away from me cause it was making their cars drone! id stay next to them just for fun. the bad side was the loss of low end torque, thats no myth. now i have a spintec prostreet and its only loud when i want it. i couldnt stand the drone on the freeway, especially with the windows up. if you want more sound, cut that pipe but expect to lose a lil torque.

About 4 weeks ago I had true dual put on from the headers all the way back with no resonators, 2 Magnaflow free flow cats and two 40's, all 2 1/4 pipes. Went to pick it up and could not drive it home! I left it there. I'm not a kid anymore, way, way...too loud. Ordered 2 Borla mufflers had those installed. Been driving around trying not make much noise at night, Hah this ain't going to work either. Now I am ordering 2 resonators to calm this thing down and also get rid of the Gatling gun effects. Replaced all o2 sensors with the latest generation. The next thing I will have to do is put in an "H" connection or a pair of venturies to get back the power I LOST! And I'm supercharged

I have jba headers with TRUE dual flowmasters! I have a 2001 4.7L and she will scream down the road! I love the sound of it and wouldnt change it for the world!! I highly recommend!
in addition of the TRUE dual flowmasters....i have k&n intake and a jet mass flow sensor! With those two i was making to much back pressure for just one muffler, i was breaking the fines inside the muffler, so i had to do true dual to split up the back pressure and let me tell you i unleashed the hidden power!

I have JBA headers run true dual into Dynomax mufflers with the resonator removed. My muffler guy said to leave the stock dual cats on to eliminate the loss of backpressure. With the smaller size of the 4.7 motor, you will lose bottom end if it's opened up too much. I definitely love the sound and power difference. A little bit of drone at 60-70 mph, but none below or above that speed range.
As for the original post on this thread, if you want sound, definitely go with Flowmasters and remove the resonator.
ya but true duals just fyi its 2 pipes off the headers which no one is actually running. you cant on new trucks with the o2 sensors. dad has a 70 mustang we r running true duals on with i could do it. if u wont loud just dont put on a muffler like everyone is doing easiest and cheapest option.
