Default 01 tundra 4.7 4x4 inop. searched. diag'ed and goin nuts!!! help plzz

i have a 2001 tundra 4.7l and have a 4x4 problem. heres the deal:
-push 4wd button, light on switch and the 4hi light on cluster flashes.
-no engagement unless i leave the button pushed in and restart the truck.
-once i finagle it into 4hi it will still flash the lights, wont go into 4low, but will release into 2wd
-the switch shows continuity when 4wd is selected.
-fuse is good
-the white/blk wire to the 4wd switch shows no power
-the pink wire to the 4wd switch shows power
-a.d.d. was replaced already (expensive and a waste :/ )

thats what im dealing with right now. i am unfortunately out of work so im trying to get this fixed on my own without the big bill of the dealer. any help will be greatly appreciated!! i looked online and diag'ed it as far as i could go.. plz lmk what you guys think.
thanks,
dave

do a search for 4x4 light blinks or something like that. there is a great write up on how too clean the actuators on the diff and front axle. Also some tips from a toyota tech. He said they push the button it park then back it up with the wheel at full lock. Check it out there is alot of info on this. Didn't seem like a tough project for the diy'ers. good luck...

DHHD, search "actuator" and you'll find plenty. Here is a good start which may help. Good Luck. Oh, Welcome to the Forum. 4 wheel drive out. actuator assembly

Dave,
I've got a spare transfer case actuator unit, I replaced the t/case as well as the trans. and have the original still. I'll drop it in a USPS flat rate box (costs like 10-12 bucks) if you want to just pay the shipping, I'm over here in Acworth NH so you would get it pretty quick. PM if interested. Scott

just to close up this post, i tested the two position sensors on the transfer case and found power at each sensor. so i then jumped them out and found the sensor towards the front was faulty. this sensor is what the switch on the dash goes to which in turn tells the frt actuator that the transfer case is going into 4wd and wants the frt diff to engage since the frt driveshaft is engaging.

That's sounds like you solved the problem. Nice work!!
