He was racing a new Vortec Max or something right?

That is quite the unique way of getting your engine out, but it almost seems simpler not to have to wrestle the engine out of the top..... I'm really looking forward to your next steps!!! I am definitely convinced now that a good stock-ish 5-6psi would be just fine for our engines reliability....

It takes me long, since I am not a mechanic. Plus I work on it about 2 hours a day. Hopefully after I'll be done with it, it will work good. Anyways, here is my progress

It sounds like the stock motor held up well considering the circumstances. It makes me fell better about making the decision to get the supercharger when I bought my truck new. I need to drive another 300,000 miles to catch up with Gene! By the time I do that, he will be at the 1,000,000 mark! Good luck Gene, I hope it fires up with no problems.

Thank you Henry, yes, I do drive a lot and I think that motor is in great condition for the mileage that is on it. I am doing all of the maintenance at this time also (water pump, timing belt, new gaskets, etc...)

I have a great idea, that I would love to do next (for my truck) and I will post later, most likely in new thread

Update on my engine: both heads are on, water pump changed. Next is timing belt, install supercharger, and buy all new hoses.

Sweet Thread! Tinik, you came very close to snapping that rod! I read somewhere that the stock rods would only handle around 350 to 400 rwhp before they fail. With the boost you were running, you were right there. I also have a set of sc400 rods for that future upgrade! Too many projects and too little time these days.

I also have a 2002 Tundra TRD SC original owner from way back bought new Sept 2001. No problems at all, still running the TRD Controller. The only thing, 6-months after the truck was new, TRD recalled the controllers. They send me a new one and I had to returnt he old. The truck runs very good and doesnt ping like so many complain about. Just now and again on a very hot day. I am thinking about getting the UniChip unit to see if it can ran any better. Very solid truck. Its not my daily driver but I do use it weeks at a time for the fun factor. I like my O2 better than my 07.

Mustang Dynamometer with corrected rotational loss factor. HP 386.6 and Torque 406.66 this was peak power at between 4600-4800 rpms. Not too bad, I think? Stock motor is rated at 245hp, gained just over 141hp. I will take it. UniChip is claiming I have another 30-hp in thier program. From a roll the truck gets it hard. Dont forget we all have trucks here and they do weigh a little.

Here is a question: If I am using heavier rods will my performance suffer?

1UZFE Rod: 628g (my new rods)
2UZFE Rod: 581g (original that came with truck)
----------------------------------------------
47g (heavier) each rod

I doubt you will notice any difference with the extra weight. I wonder if the increased weight will affect the engine balance? You should be able to run more boost without fear of bending/breaking a rod though.

Anybody ever bolt a TRD supercharger to an 05 or 06? I know it would require some custom tuning to the stock efi system...Anybody tried it?

What!?!? Dude! Pretty impressive for not being a mechanic!

I personally wouldn't even attempt that, let alone even lift the body from the frame. Wow. Good stuff.
