I doubt you will notice any difference with the extra weight. I wonder if the increased weight will affect the engine balance? You should be able to run more boost without fear of bending/breaking a rod though.
Anybody ever bolt a TRD supercharger to an 05 or 06? I know it would require some custom tuning to the stock efi system...Anybody tried it?
Thanks for response, and I think I should not have any balancing issue.
As far as bolting TRD blower to 05-06, I think its very possible (just need add spacer between intake ports, and SC it self, and you will be ok for clearance. As far as tuning, i am not sure who can you ask for help on that one (most likely Unichip will be best option, since they have extra modules for turbo application)

I personally wouldn't even attempt that, let alone even lift the body from the frame. Wow. Good stuff.
Thanks

Yeah, from what I have heard, there is some sort of extra emission device in the way on the 05-06, so that has to be moved. But I would like to see it done on an 05-06!!!
A couple months ago we had one fellow claim that TRD went through the motions and built a few prototypes for the 05-06 but it never moved on from there.

I did. Had to have the plenum modified and went ahead and beefed up the bottom end to handle the extra power. The 1UZ parts come in very handy for that. Yes, the ECU needs custom tuning. Modifications to plenum connections, extra injectors, fuel delivery, and fuel pressure management were all necessary. Fortunately, there is a guy with a race shop here in town that can do all that stuff and he made the install work. Never actually had it dyno'd because with the DC it was too long to fit in the area where his dyno is set up. Occasionally threw codes at me and I would have him hook it up to the computer and set it straight. LOVED the way the truck ran with all that power. That was until about 2 months ago when something in the impeller gave out. Being that it was an "experimental" SC from TRD, I couldn't get a replacement part. Had to have the system removed and a stock plenum setup put back in. Fortunately, no damage to the engine, just the SC. The SC's made for the older model trucks can't be modified to fit the motor on the 05 & 06 because of air pump under the plenum and the 2 stage catalytic converter. Still have the Unichip and all the bolt-ons, but it sure doesn't run like it did before. I feel for you Tinik, but at least you have the knowledge, parts, and ability to get yours back up and running. I don't know crap about working on these motors for anything more technical than throttle body cleanings and oil changes. Working on this motor for me meant pulling out the credit card. Thank goodness I have a trusted mechanic here in town--it amazes me the number of guys on this forum that are getting robbed by mechanics, especially Toyota dealerships. I may pay a little more for my servicing, but at least I know it's done right and with top quality parts!! Sorry, didn't mean to go a little off topic there...

Supposedly, URD was working on making the SC for the 05 & 06 4.7 a reality, but I sure haven't seen anything about it and when we tried to get replacement parts for mine, they weren't out there.
HI, did any of you who had the 2005 & 2006 trd prototype supercharger ever call ,email talk to: PSE super charger remanufacturing.
i have directly talked to trd , & they told me, the ONLY compnay they recommend is the 1 i just mentioned.
i sure you called trd, & they told you about this company.
because the way it was told to me, they can fab any part you need.
now that might be cstly. but if it is possible to keep a 05 & or 06 s/c on the truck, i would go for it. heck it's worth a try.
honestly at least you had 1.
i'm sure there are a few of us 05 & or 06 owner's that wish they made something that worked correctly without issue's.

Glad to see you decided to stick around Gorilla!!
I contacted TRD and URD when I had my "catastrophic failure" and was told the parts they had left could not be modified to work with the SC I had. Neither of them mentioned PSE to me. If anyone could have fixed it, according to their website, it looks like it may have been them. With the damage that was done to the housing and nose cone, I don't know if they could have salvaged anything for me, but since it's all gone now, it doesn't really matter anymore. Between family and work, I couldn't have afforded to have the truck out of service long enough to find out. I miss it, but honestly, for my day to day driving I wasn't able to use it to the full potential anyway. The biggest thing I notice about it is the throttle response and it tends to "bog" down more if you don't catch the rpm's at just the right point under sudden acceleration. My tires will definitely last longer now...
