Default RIMS AND TIRES Switch? Any issues?

Hello. I am looking at a rim and tire trade with a friend. I now have a 2005 Tundra Double Cab and he has a 2006 Double Cab. The tire sizes seem close but any issues we might be missing. Need someone good with tire computations and rims and tires in general. My truck factory rims and tires sizes is 265/65/17 and his set set of rims and tires 265/70/16.
So, I am going from a 17 inch rim with a 65 as its height to a 16 inch rim with 70 height and they both are 265 for width. Are these near identical or would there be speedometer or any other issue, I might be missing?

A friend said I would need to have the spares of course and have the TMPS signals changed to the truck they would be on.

Thanks in Advance for any help...........

Anthony

Default Re: RIMS AND TIRES Switch? Any issues?

I just checked out tirerack.com and searched for tires by each vehicle model and it back that both trucks shared as a Original Equipment tire options in both sizes, I had in question. The 2006 had three original equipment choices and the 2005 had two and they both shared the 265/70/16 and 265/65/17 as tire options on both models.

So the question now is........... I am going from 265/65/17 on a 2005 Tundra Double Cab 4X4 Limited and want the rims and tires that will be now be 265/70/16 because I like the rims better. Will I be losing gas milage or gaining? Will those small variances affect how the 4X4 handles on road and off? Anything? Thanks.........

The width and diameter of those tires is almost identical. There should be no issues, assuming both are on stock tundra rims.

DML Tire and Wheel Calculator

I used the tire calculator and they are the same size.
