2002 Tundra Security Alarm Question
My '02 Tundra Access Cab has keyless entry and factory security system. I lost a keyfob last year, ordered and received a new one and took it to the dealer for programming. The service department told me that my security system was not working correctly and they "fixed" it along with programming the security key fob. Ever since that time, the thing seems to be possessed. For example, if I get out of the truck at the gas station and remove the key to open the locking gas door, then my girlfriend gets out a minute or so later, then the alarm goes off and I have to wrestle the key out of the gas door to shut off the alarm. Is this the way this thing is supposed to work? Likewise if I come home, take the key from the ignition, and then close the driver door, walk around to the passenger side and open the passenger door to get my groceries, the alarm goes off until I depress the security button or put the key back in the ignition. This seems crazy and makes me want to disconnect the entire thing. But, I like the option of the security system and would like for it to work in a more conventional manner. Any ideas on what to do?
