Default Tire Pressure Sensor Leak

Hello All,I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra regular cab 4x2. I checked the tire pressure the other day on the truck and drove the truck to work and when I left I found one of my tires flat. Needless to say, I discovered that the tire had a slow leak from the valve stem probably caused by checking it with a gage or filling it from the air chuck. Eventually the valve seated and no longer leaked. The question(s). Can the valve stem be repaired/replaced without removing the tire from the wheel? Is this common with this type of system? In the old days you could remove the valve stem. Can these be removed and perhaps tightened? I appreciate any info on this as I am monitoring my dash pressure indicator and hoping it stays off. I also understand that this light can come on if the spare is low as well. Thanks !

Do you mean the little spring valve core? If thats not seating, you can get them cheap and theres a special tool to do it. Any auto parts store should have them. If its leaking around the valve stem itself(by the rim), it could be a bigger problem. Either its the gasket where the tpms attaches, or the stem is cracked which would really suck.

Rick,
Do you knwo if the air was leaking through the valve or around the valve? If it was coming throught the valve then yes bring it to Toyota and they can tighten the inner pin back. If it is leaking from around the valve you will need to have the tired broke down and replace the o-rings that sit between the rim and the valve. I had to do this when i had my ris replaced.

Yes...the schrader valve is leaking and it doesn't always fully seat after checking tire pressure with a gage or filling with air from an air chuck. I was wondering if they had the same innards as a regular schrader valve. They used to have the valve cap that had a side with 2 slots used for inserting into the valve body that you could tighten or remove the guts. I am wondering if the valves on TPMS sensors have the same configuration? Thanks again.
