2001 Tundra Extend Cab.

Well, I'm not doing too good with this one.

For a while now, my 4WD has refused to engage. I've spent 3 full days at the dealer, and they've tested the actuators, switch and wiring. Still, no dice.

I go to engage the 4WD, the light on the switch blinks, I hear the actuator underneath the driver's side door buzz, and nothing. The green light continues to blink, but no 4WD.

Dealer thinks it's something with the wiring, but they can't find where the problem lies. They see fluctuations in the ohm level, but nothing specific.

192k miles, and this is the only thing wrong with it. I love my truck, and this is breaking my heart.

r u stopped or rolling when you engage the 4wd try moving should go right in

Yes, thanks - I tried rolling slow, engaging, dis-engaging, tapping the actuator with hammer, cranking wheel on dry pavement, etc...

Had a Z71 that was really slow to engage. My mechanic at the time said there was a pin that is supposed to slide in and and out to engage 4wd. He said it wears over time and sometimes needs to be replaced. I have no idea if our trucks are same but maybe something like that is the problem. Sorry I cant be more specific but I only had that truck for a year and never bothered to fix the problem so I dont know any more details than that.

HEY! good news, i just solved my problem. same symptoms you are having, not promising it'll fix yours but try unplugging the two sensors on the transfer case. do it one at a time. they are a two wire position sensor. they are small and right next to each other. they are also located right above the actuator on the the transfer case. check that one on the two wires on the wire harness side shows it has power, then jump the wire harness side connector and hit the switch. the sensor towards the frt tells the frt add actuator that there is a call for 4wd so technically that sensor is responsible for the engagement of the front differential. im not sure if you tried this yet but if you have the truck in the air, put it in drive and select 4wd and the frt driveshaft spins but the wheels dont and you have a flashing lite on the dash and on the button definately check the sensors i mentioned. lmk if you need further assistance.
