ouch bud. So I take it your rear end has ended its life? Think that had something to do with the hard shifts you mentioned the other day? Thats why im scarred to smoke my tires, with my luck I'd blow my rear end and be pushing 5klbs home.

I'm not sure i think that is in the trans, but i can smoke my tires like hell just something got in a bind but we are going to pull the pan off Monday morning and see what is tore up. If it is just the pinion gear then i will replace that if its more tore up than that then i will get a new rear end from Toyota for 966 list 1375. While i'm at it i will change my trans filter and fluid.

Just so you know, there's no "pan" on Toyota rear ends. You will have to pull the axles, then the driveshaft, then unbolt the third member to see what went wrong. Look on the brite side, its a good time to upgrade to a LSD. I bet you can get new gears, and a LSD and have someone set it up for less than $966. And you can just bring the whole third member to them, not the whole truck.

Man that sucks but on a positive note like tundra05_trd said its a third member so you can pull it out and most likely just rebuild it yourself on the workbench at home if you have some mechanical knowledge. Add a some new gears and an LSD or possibly a locker!!!!! Godd luck man.

I would rebuild it but i don't have time. I got money but not time. So i can buy a brand new one and have it on wed and be rolling again. I think i have lsd but I'm not sure either. I know it don't really have a pan i just couldn't think what to say at that moment but we are going to pull the drive shaft out and take the cover off or whatever you want to call it and see whats messed up it could be just as simple as a pin come out but don't know.

In order for the third member to come out, you have to pull your axles out. Easy to do though.( four bolts on each side, and two break lines). I feel your pain man, Im getting ready to put/build my third rear in my truck. I blew the first one out acting stupid one day. The second one I had $5000 invested in. 4.56 gears, Detroit locker, chrome alloy axles, bearings, seals etc. Ended up doing a little burnout one day in the rain and it started hoping and one of my bolts that hold my pinion gear in fell out and chewed the whole locker up. Wasn't a good night. Only got 8,000 miles out of it. Now its been sitting in the garage for the last six months with no motor or rear axle. It sucks man, it really does.
