Default turn signals and back-up lights not working - 06 tundra

My turn signals and backup lights all of a sudden are not working on my 2006 tundra 4x4. I am not sure if it is coincidence or not but I hooked up my utility trailer when I noticed it, they were working fine earlier in the day. I know that the wiring on the trailer is good because I just rewired the trailer and hooked it up once before and it all worked fine. The only difference is that I did not put the truck in gear, this time I did and now no signals or backups. All other lights work, and my hazzards work, checked all fuses...I am out of ideas - please help if you can.

I had a similar problem on another truck a little while back, whenever i plugged in a trailer to the harness the back up lights would come on until the fuse popped, i found the problem to be a short in the plug on the truck that was fine without the trailer plugged in, but when it was plugged in it would short.

so the hazards will work but the left or right signal by themselves would not work along with the back up lights? when you unhook the trailer do the lights start working again? Sounds like you have wire problem somewhere which is going to be a pain trying to track down. If you say the trailer wiring is good i would start at the back of the truck and start tracing wires and hopefully you can find a bad spot like the wires cut or pinched. good luck.

a good tool to have is a trailer wiring checker to determine if the problem is in the truck wiring or a problem with the trailer wiring.
