1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "How many regular cab owners?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have a 2002 Reg Cab Tundra V6 and I am not satisfied with the dash. I own a few Porsches and I also have 5 speed in Tundra. I like to see tach and Guages. I added a tach to the tundra but I would like to add Oil Press, Oil temp. guages to it. Has anyone here added guage pod to their Tundra and how was it tied in. Should I get electronic guages or mechanical.
Also how about if I found a Guage Cluster from another Tundra with built in tach? Can it work by just plugging it in to where old one was?
I just finished installing OE fogs and went ahead
and did the switch mod while I had the dash apart.
A very slick and easy to do mod BTW
Anyways... other than my seating situation,
I'm currently running a single drivers seat and a center console,
I think I'm done with the major mods on my regular cab.
got mine in sept. phantom grey v8 4x4. they had to bring it in from fla. it must have been setting for awhile, it was made in feb. pretty basic except for the max package. I have seen one other reg cab around here but none with the max pack. It also has the heavy tow package, ltd slip, all weather, toolbox, bed liner. I felt like I had got them down to a fair price and then got cold feet. I dont think they wanted this truck on their lot full of ac/dcs . To save the deal they came came down some more and put cruise on it, I complained about the drop in bed liner so they swapped it for a line-x job. Now I feel like I got a great deal! the Line-x is the best looking liner I have ever seen, just beautiful. I am playing with the stereo now, and have a tool box ed master tonneu ordered. to come, 2-3 inch lift, tint, turbo muffler, and I would like a shift improment kit if there is one and ofcourse tires after I wear these out. The reg cab looks better to me than the ac/dc's and I like that I cant tote the hourds around. but thats just me.
I purchased a 05 V6 6 speed "Phantom Gray" Tundra with 650 miles on it the day after Christmas for $16k. Merry Christmas to me!
If you don't count the totalled Mustang it replaced.
Got a great deal now I need Accessories! Must have a Bed Cap and would like to seal the Cap to the Cab and remove the windows between. I live in Florida so I am not worried about the cold, just want room for my woofers and to be able to hear them.
Anyone done this? Been cruising the forum for three days and haven't heard of it yet.
Any suggestions for an organizer to fit in between the seat and the gear shift would also be greatly appreciated.
Will post pics soon as I can get home while its still daylight. Damn DST stealing all my sunlight!
I got my '05 Tundra reg. cab. on 11/07. End of model year deal. My Ford Ranger started having problems at 35,000 miles, so I had it towed to the Ford dealer for repairs. When I got it back I drove off the lot to the Toyota dealership, right next door(hope they saw me), and traded. Told the salesman I wanted a "no frills" truck. Just a V8, 4WD, A/C, automatic; I don't care what color. He said he had just what I wanted and it was the last 2005. It only had 5 miles on it. A desert sand long bed regular cab. It has the LSD, sliding rear window, and cold weather package. I think this truck was meant to be delivered up North! I have 2000 miles on it and use it daily for work and to go hunting on weekends. I wasn't thrilled with the desert sand color to begin with but it actually is a very good color for the woods. The 4WD system is awesome! Goes anywhere. I don't drive through water, though, unless I know the depth. Most of what I have to deal with is heavy sand. Here in FL we call it "sugar sand". It's like white beach sand. The Tundra walks through it, climbs up it, just amazing. Just have the OEM tires, too( B-stones Duelers MT, 245-70-16). Gas mileage? I'm getting better than 18mpg in city driving. I usually get 16-17 after a trip to the woods. I've read some complaints about first gear being too low, but it works well for me. I love those low gears.
Where did all the regular cab owners go? I am looking to get a tonneau. I like that tri-fold one that locks at both ends but it's not available for a long bed. Anybody got one they like? I don't think I want a hard cover like the ARE. I've looked at a lot of them on the Web but need some opinions.

I would go with one with a velcro attachment system and rollup crossbars. There are several different brands that fit the bill.

I like mine, tonneu masters. mine is the tool box edition.
it rolls up easy bows and all to get out of the way. I love the
way it looks. Better than a hard top if you use your bed alot.
hard tops are very heavy and have to be removed to allow loading
above side walls. tonneus cost around 400 bucks.
here are some pics of mine http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo.../28396/cat/878
Bought my 2006 Reg Cab in November when my F150 cratered. I have a lot invested in camping equipment for the long bed, so there was no thought of anything but the regular cab.
The seat situation nearly drove me crazy. The bench seat which is the only option has several serious problems for me:
1. The only position for the seat back is very uncomfortable for me.
2. The tall back means no access to the area behind the seat unless you get out of the truck, etc.
3. No cup-holders in the center rest.
4. No flexibility for the right seat.
I begged, I pleaded for a better seat. No way, says Toyota. People who want regular cabs don't deserve better seats. (I noticed that in prior years, regular cabs came with 60-40 split. I'm not sure when this new rule was instituted.)
After 2 months of calling & emailing nearly every day, this weekend I drove 1146 miles to purchase a set of 60-40 seats from a 2004. They're dark grey & my cab is taupe, but I can live with that.
Maybe when I get them installed, I'll start to like this truck, but my affair with it has started with a bad taste.
