Damn! That does look real nice! You have done it perfect so far. Do you get any rubbing with those tires? I wonder if I would have less, more, or the same amount of clearance with the 4wd? As for my muffler.... You gotta check out the AERO Turbine, it is such a great sounding muffler. It sounds soo bad ***, loud gurgly v8. I definately notice a difference between the aero turbine and the 40 series. The 40 series almost seemed to make me lose some low end power and had more of one constant sound note. The aero turbine was the best thing i did to my truck so far. It sets off car alarms which my 40 series rarely did, isnt loud when you are inside the truck with the windows closed, and looks sweet as hell

Just recently purchased an 06 Tundra V6 Reg Cab White. It was a choice between Tundra and Tacoma. The Tacoma base truck is not so appealing to me, but a little cheaper than the base Tundra. So Tundra it is. Happy with it. Got windows tinted, next is to get a hard bed cover. I'm no too jealous of the extended or access cab because the regular cab is rare on the street. Love the clean lines of the truck without the trimmings, flares, etc.

I have a 2005 regular cab with 23K on it already. Took it on a couple of trips, one to Georgia and another to New Brunswick, CA (I live in the Bronx). It runs swell on the highway , especially when I have to punch it to escape one of those "road fury" Hondas tailgating me--are they surprised! It's also good on the local streets of the Bronx, which are really off-road challenges.

I had an access cab Tacoma, and the extra room in the cab just filled up with junk. Why spend an extra $6k for a closet? You can buy a Delta Box for $400 and throw your junk and mother-in-law in it.

Hi:
I'm new to the forum. Installed a after market cruise control on my 2005 tundra reg cab. Works great, easy to install, only three wires, works off the ECM. Has two buttons mounted on a clip that you can mount where ever you want in the cab. It is a battery operated transmitter. Made by M&R Electronics, cruise control kit 250-1779. Total cost $156.04 will pay for its self with one ticket saved! Only confusion was the pictoral showed the plug containing the "cruise line" reversed, but the color coding was correct from the plug. When you are going down the road, push the left button once to turn it on and press it again when you are at the required speed, all done. Will only set if the speed is above 33mph. Now I enjoy the scenery. Take care. Rich

Default Re: How many regular cab owners?

Hi guys, Just showing some love for regular cabs. I first went in because of ads for 12900 regular cab. I drove it, and the v6 was found lacking in my opinion. I asked if there were any regular cab v8's nearby that I could see, and the salesman looked it up. He told me there was supposed to be one in that day. We walked outside, and there came the delivery truck with MY white regular cab, V8, and it had the white painted grill. I had noticed that every other reg. cab on the lot had a gray painted grill, but mine matched. I finished looking it over with the interior, and noticed the window sticker said "Towing Package" with "Special" 3.92 gears and LSD. I test drove it and, with zero percent apr and FACTORY cruise added, I signed papers the next morning.
I drove it home that night, and noticed 4 small dents on the drivers bedrail. No biggie, right? ten minutes later, I get a call from someone deep in the dungeons of my dealer who tells me my trade was worth less than anticipated, and I owed them $60.00. (Smiling) ok. No problem. I told my salesman the next morning, and he threw in the spray in bedliner free.
The same day i got my truck back, the company I worked for decided to give us a performance bonus... HEHEHE New exhaust was mounted the next morning. Since then, I have installed numerous new items for looks, sound, and performance. I love this truck, but do wish I had a little extra room SOMETIMES. But the cost of the extra weight all the time isn't worth it. Not to mention the $5000 premium for just an AC with the same options and a few I didn't need.

Smile Re: How many regular cab owners?

I bought mine used with 19K miles and now have 90K miles in 3 years (8 times on the ALCAN). I've Rhino-lined the bed and put on a full length canopy (one of those plastic models that wear so well). When I'm not hauling full sheets of plywood hidden inside, it makes a great 'load it and git' overnight camping rig for those 'gotta-go-fish' events. Beats the heck out of those Datsun's I used to convince myself were adequate! Brakes suck however, and I'm planning on applying the fixes found here this fall. I have serious doubts about buying another Toyota tho. TSB should sue them.

Well, many of you know that I have been looking for a local Tundra in my price range for awhile now. I really wanted an access cab, I did not care whether 2wd or 4wd, but I think I have decided I may have to go with regular cab. I love the looks, but I wanted the access for the extra space. The more I look at the photos of the regular cabs, the more I like. I am wondering though, just how much more "rough" does the regular cab ride than the access?

Oh well. Anyway, I found a fairly local 2000 SR5 regular cab 4wd V8- loaded, 1-owner, with 99K miles, advertised for $9200. I think this price is a bit steep for a regular cab and with 99K. I am thinking of taking the 1 1/2 hour drive to look at it and if I like it, I will offer him $8500. Also still have to look at the 2000 access cab 4wd V8, w/165K for $7800.

I've got a 2000 reg cab, 2WD, with a full canopy. I've driven the Alcan highway with it 8 times, twice with a 21 foot cargo trailer(loaded!). It has served me well. I can sleep inside the canopy(it's one of those that is high in the rear) when camping/fishing, and I have it Rhino-lined. I enjoy heating and cooling the smaller space and have never missed the chance to carry more than 2 friends and myself. Never needed 4wd in winter or summer, but then, I don't like mud much. Best, most practical vehicle I've ever owed, although I'd like better mileage these days. Will probably start dismounting the canopy in the winter time.

Default Re: How many regular cab owners?

In late 2004 I decided I could no longer wait for Toyota to produce an extended-cab with 8-foot bed, cargo capacity being more important than cab space, so I bought the standard cab with V-8 and 4WD. Added a Leer shell and changed out the stock wheels for Eagle 102's in 17x9 with Godyear Wrangler 275/70-17's. I use it mainly to tow my toy box out to the desert for overnight stays, so my mileage is low: 13,000 after 40 months ownership.

Default Re: How many regular cab owners?

On my 2nd base cab truck.
Started with an 01, V-6, 2Wd,
my job requires usage of a truck,
not to mention I have too many
toys to haul around.
My son bought that a year or so ago from
me with 90K on it, and I found an '05
4X4 V8 base cab with 8,000 miles on it.
have been happy with it, pulls the
trailers better, but I was sort of hoping
to get an upgraded interior, but it's still
crank windows, no c/c, no power locks etc,
but I did put a remote start in it. (son kept
the one in the 01)

Just recently picked up a 27' travel trailer,
which i have posted in the towing forum,
and it handled it quite well with a WD hitch
and P3 brake controller.

Love the ride, and handling, the power is nice
when I need it, but boy do I HATE these
seatbelts! And, I have a feeling I'm going to
HATE TPMS!!!

In a way I was hoping my truck wouldn't handle
the trailer well, forcing me into a new truck,
but wow did the prices go up!
So, I'm happy for now with my base cab
4x4

I have a 2005 Reg Cab V8 with 33K. It came with Power windows, locks, mirrors and cruise. I have added Trans Cooler, Trailer Wiring, and a Tekonsha Brake controller. I tow a 24' Travel Trailer, and am about to install a set of wheels and tires off an 07 FJ Cruiser to replace the original styled steel wheels.
