1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "How many regular cab owners?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I read somewhere that regular cabs account for less than 10% of Tundra sales, but I know that there's got to be more of us than that! I love mine and feel that I got more seat travel and leg room than in the x-cabs, as I've tried both. I may not ever make full use of the 8 foot bed, but I'll never be short on room at tailgate parties! Anyway, holla if you're reppin' the long bed and whether or not you've got ACE (Access Cab Envy)

03 Reg Cab V6. Best truck I've ever had. 14,000 miles on it, haven't missed a beat.
2003 V6 RegCab "work truck" here. Just me and wifey, we dont need backseat and cant afford the $450/mo payments on an access cab. We have 2 cars for car stuff. Mine's got 8500 miles right now, bought new last april.
I compared my bench seat to the bench in a 1994 Chevy 3500 dually that we have at habitat for humanity. The tundra much more comfortable and actually roomier than a (albeit 10 year old) chevy 1 ton truck. I also tried to sit in the construction supervisor's 1988? ford ranger regcab. With my toolbelt on , I couldnt even get in. Forget it, I could never have a regcab mini-truck, but I like half-tons and bigger so no problem there

seeing a tundra reg cab is a very rare breed to say it midely (it does account for 10 percent of all tundra sales) and those 10 percent figures will be going down from because toyota is not making as much due to the fact access cab and d/c are taking factory output(maybe when the new plant in texas is done toyota will have more option's .....

I wanted a real truck, not a modified car. The few things that ticked me off were: 1. Couldn't get a v-8 with an 8 foot bed. You would think that would be desirable. 2. No cruise control either. 3. Options were few.
I guess they figured that people who wanted a real truck didn't care to spend money on customizing it.
Like the truck though. One lesson I learned the hard way is don't try to install an epoxy bedliner yourself. It went on fine but seems to be softening up after two years.
I hope to get at least 250k miles and will keep it forever.
You can get a V8 SR5 4WD tundra. But not 4x2. There are also better options on an SR5, like power windows and locks, and maybe cruise. I had cruise control added to my truck, on a little stalk under the headlights/turnsignal. It works, but not very good, not like factory. I had it installed when I bought the truck at the dealer, for $300. Its an aftermarket brand called global cruise. Check out 7.62 mm's pictures, he's got an SR5 regcab tundra.
I've got a 2002 4WD V8 regular cab. Had it for about two years. You're right that Toyota doesn't make very many of these. I saw another one in the Wal-Mart parking lot last month - first one in a long time. It's an OK truck, but I had a lot of trouble getting it. The dealer didn't have any on his lot, just 17 access cabs. But I went ahead and ordered it anyway. Took ten weeks to come in, and it was the wrong color, wrong accessories - dealer said he couldn't do any better, and I really needed the truck, so I bought it. It has some good features, some not so good. Don't know if I would buy another one.
Have a 2002 silver 4x4 SR5 Reg cab as no kids to haul, etc...Found mine in Henderson NV. in Feb, 02..Only one like it on the lot & west of Denver at the time as I had dealer try to get another silver one with ABS brakes but none found anywhere...BEST truck I have ever owned & except for bad battery after 1 year... NO other problems...Dealer in Henderson (Findley) replaced with no questions...RRRanger
The more I drive my Regular cab, the more I like it...
I like the fact that I have less cu. ft. of cab to heat and cool.
I like the fact that I can reach over my shoulder and opperate the back window.
I like the fact that I can't load up with kids and pets.
I like the fact that I have a V8 moveing less weight than other Tundra's.
I have one. 65k miles, no problems. It was my dads work truck. He ordered a new reg cab. I have only seen two or three other ones in this area. I have NEVER seen another reg cab lifted.
I have the regular cab and love it! Usually, it's just me in the truck, but otherwise, my wife, our little dog, and me have enough room on the bench seat. I had an extended cab Ram before this and can count the number of times I had a passenger in the rear seat on one hand. Plus I really like the long bed, plenty of space in that 8' bed for stuff.
I didn't know that the Tundra featured in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie T3 was a 2002, Regular Cab, 4WD, SR5, V8. <<click picture for supersize.
Just watched the movie for the first time, that Tundra took a massive Hollywood beating and kept on running.
