Default 295/70/17 or 285/75/17? what will fit and look better on my 1st gen?

i am running a 2.5'' leveling kit up front, nothing in the back. i know that the rear is large enough to fit 35's so im good there, but i want to know what would be better for the front? i plan on aftermarket wheels with a 4.5'' backspacing to clear the uca's. right now im thinking of the 295's because they are cheaper, but if they will be too much of a problem to fit beacause they are wider id like to try the 285/75's because they are still tall but skinnier.

i know i will have to take off the front mud flaps and bend the pinch welds back, along with trim the bottom edge of the the front of the fender flare. what do yall think? i plan on new wheels and tires this summer. let me know thanks!

a 285/75/17 toyo mt is 34.1'' tall and 11.6'' wide
a 285/75/17 nitto trail grappler is 34.09'' tall and 11.57'' wide
a 295/70/17 nitto trail grappler is 33.54'' tall and 11.97'' wide

a 285/70/17 nitto trail grappler is 33.15'' tall and 11.81'' wide, and i know that these will fit, so i would like to go a tad bit taller.

I have the Toytec coilover lift. It's set at 2.5" lift from the factory. The wheels are 17X8 with 4.5" back spacing. I never had to do any trimming my self, as I got the truck pre trimed, and it only on the front lower part of the bumper. I did edit my first post also.

I tried to fit 35" trail grapplers on my 05 DC with a 3" leveling kit. No dice. Then I tried to fit them with Icon coilovers along with camberg uca's and the tires still rubbed big time. I was able to fit 33" tires with minimal rubbing with the leveling kit up front. I would think that the 34" tires will rub no matter how much trimming you do up front. I have 18" wheels so the numbers I'm using were measured with a tape. The 33" tires are just about perfect imho but good luck.

Here's a pic of where it rubs, the only side pic I have is with my 285/70R17 Hankook RF10's, and right now I have my factory wheels on with my 245/75R16 Artic Claws on, So I can't even take a pic of it right now.

I perfer the look of tires with a 75 aspect ratio (or higher). It looks more truck-like IMO. I'll take a side picture of my 285/75 17 when it's light out.

    Hey Kuntry...

    By the way, GO TIGERS!

I have a set of 285/70/17's on my double cab (2006) and have to run a set of 1.25" hub centric wheel spacers otherwise they rub terribly on the UCA. I also have a set of camburg coilovers set at 2.75".

    Hope this helps!

nice^^ thanks. hows the rub up front? i would think that the 285/75/17 wouldnt rub as bad cause its skinnier. is your front lifted 2.5'' or 3'' up front? i got 2.5'' up front

5" back spacing will bring the wheel in more. you would have to got 4-4.25" back spacing.
