    Default Help: Turn Signal Issues

I have a problem on my 2000 Tundra, the right turn signal stays on constantly. Turn the left signal on, and it works properly, except looks like I've got my emergency flashers on. I have taken the fuse out so it won't flash all the time, but need turn signals.

All other signals work properly, left turn, emergency flashers and headlights, foglights and DRL all work fine.

I'm inclined to believe the turn signal switch itself is bad. Does anyone have a pdf or can give me instructions on how to replace it?

    Thanks for any help.

Did you by chance install a trailer hitch when you bought the truck? If so the wiring harness (that had to be installed after putting on the hitch) that is at the back of the truck may be bad. My truck did the same thing as yours.

Truck came equipped with a trailer hitch and wiring harness already installed.

All bulbs work perfectly, just when I put the turn signal fuse in, the right turn signal continuously flashes, even when the switch is in the middle (off) position.

Thehawk247, unplug trailer wire converter, see if problems go away, this is the best season for trailer converters going bad, with road salt & such. I don't know about 00 turn signal levers but on my 05 you just turn steering wheel 1/4 turn each way to access column cover screws & then also remove cover screws from bottom of column cover, the lever is right there if you remove trailer wire converter & turn signal lever & still have problem, you might have a water leak coming into cab with water getting into relays .

Maybe try swapping the bulbs too. Start with the front 2. At least that way you can rule out a bulb problem.

Burned300: Can you tell me where the relays are located? The issue with my turn signals started when I left my windows partially down and an afternoon thunderstorm rolled in and rained in my truck.

I removed the turn signal switch from the column today. One of the contacts in it was stuck, gave it a good cleaning with brake cleaner, then used compressed air to dry it. Reinstalled it, and turn signals are working perfectly now. With a little luck, maybe my troubles are solved for awhile. At least now, if it happens again, I'll know what part to change first.

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Update: So far my turn signals are still working great since the cleaning. But I have recently discovered that when I switch from dim to high beams, I no longer have high beams. Any suggestions as to why?

your headlight switch grounds your headlight relay& it also grounds your headlights, might be time for a new headlight switch,

TexasTundra15 - The turn signal flasher "blinking function" is dependent upon an expected resistance for the bulbs being flashed. That's why when either the front or rear turn signal bulb burns out the remaining bulbs & the dash indicator both flash much faster. The resistance of an LED is most likely much higher than that of the normal bulb it replaced. Other posts I've read mentioned the need to add a resistor in parallel with the LED (thus lowering the overall resistance) in order to fool the flasher into thinking it's still powering the original bulb(s).
