In my opinion i like how it looks... the front end looks "tuff" and really like the wide body... judging from the pictures i dont think its to bad... at first i thought the front bumper was plastic... which it isnt, and didnt really see a lot of the body moldings.... like on the rear windows as shown from the pictures taken from the show... i also didnt know it was hybrid... which most people would think of it being weak because of a hybrid engine.... looking at the pruis and the new on coming highlander... if this truck does come out it will probably sell very well... and leave the rest like the big 3 and nissan playing catch up.... If toyota does what it says and builds a truck which is more capable & powerful then the competition and wastes less gas then most 6 cyl cars they will definitely get peoples attention...

I'm sure this truck may appeal to some, but not me!

Oh well on a brighter note, my wife and I get offered to take consumer surveys to look at future vehicles. I suppose we'll get our chance to voice our opinions and get paid to boot.

No need - lots of companies look to forums for the public opinion, and Toyota probably does too.

Anyway, I agree with TUNDRAV8GEORGIA. I got the Tundra 'cause it was low-profile, not trendy and flashy. Why can't they just improve on what they have? I hope they aren't seriously considering producing this thing without toning it down a LOT.

This is a very good point too... and this truck would create a niche market of economy truck owners. It won't get the attention of the existing market (Ford, Chevy, Dodge owners) though. Domestic owners probably want to stick with the basics.

I don't have any numbers, but I'd assume that appealing to the domestic truck owners would be Toyota's best plan of attack. I certainly won't shell out an extra $5000-8000 for a hybrid. Yeah, you might save some gas, but you're not going to save $5000 in gas unless you have that truck for a loooooong time.

A lot Toyota concept vehicles are well...............what’s the word........ zany..... they have some pretty weird concepts, but when it comes down to the final product the designs are usually fairly conservative. They're probably just trying to get to know what people want, and don’t want, in a truck and not rush production without any consumer input.

Ok I was bored so I figured out how far you would have to drive to save $8000

At $1.50/gallon, and assuming 17mpg for a regular truck, and 26mpg for a hybrid:

First, we change miles per gallon into miles per dollar
(26/1.50) = 11.33 (miles per $1)
(17/1.50) = 17.33 (miles per $1)

Now we find the difference for $1 of fuel
17.33 - 11.33 = 6 (this is the difference in miles per $1)

Now to see how far you would have to drive before you saved $8000
6 x $8000 = 48,000 miles.

Wow this was fun. Feel free to use this formula to figure out if your next fuel efficient car is worth the money. I'll make a formula below.

|(a-b)/x|s = D

a is mpg of vehichle 1
b is mpg of vehichle 2
x is the price of gas
s is the extra money you'll spend on a hybrid
D is the distance you would have to travel to save that extra money
Don't forget your absolute value bars! =)

well heres another dumb opinion... they shouldnt of connected the tail gate, bumper and tail lights so much... i could imagine what a 5 mph crash will cost... In my "opinion" they shouldnt of put any part of a tail light on the tail gate... it makes it look more of a car then a truck.... they should of put on real bumpers... i could care less about the front... = ) unlike some heheh. and they should of stretched out the rear door windows a bit wider lol... any one agree or disagree?

Lets all remember that the new FX Tundra is still almost 2 years from production. Looks like Toyota is fishing for some feed back, but I'm thinking the overal shape of the vehcile, especially the front end is what we will see in fall of 2005. Personally, I like the front end, but that truck is a 1/2 ton. Hope they make a 3/4 ton 4 door with 8ft bed otherwise I'll be keeping my Dodge.

NIce work there. I always like to see word problems shown in detail such as this.

Now, can anyone do the same for the quantity of emissions between the two ?

I like it. At least it shows Toyota is thinking and taking some complaints into consideration. The concept vehicle has always been a place where manufacturers can push the envelope and measure consumer reaction. Even if you don't like the exterior styling, you have to admit that Toyota is going for more of a "tough truck" look. Hell, I hated the Nissan hardbody when it came out. I ended up buying a '94 a few years later.
