Is this confirmed? Or can someone confirm this? I was thinking that the new design would be a 2006 model introduced in fall 2005, not a 2007 model introduced in 2006.
Thanks.
From what I've heard (insider at TFS) it will be a 2007 model. Rumor is that the FTX will retain many of the features it has now, but who knows what that means.

The new Tundra, based on the FTX concept truck, is scheduled to come out in August of 2006 as a 2007 model year.

ejyoder2733, Hmm, strange, Toyota doesn't distribute new model information about models in future years. I'm reading the 2005 model introduction schedule and don't see anything on the 2006. Email me what you have, I'll check with your region's product manager to see what's up.
monolithic, ConsumerGuide.com is making an assumption, they really have no idea what's really coming.

We're getting close enough now to the 2005 production has any photos of the 2005's been floating around yet? I'm thinking of swaping now for a 2005 and by the time I'm ready again they will have the bugs worked out of the new model

The information that I posted about the '07 was a footnote on the '05 model introduction schedule from the Chicago Region office. I'm not sure, but I think it was put together by somebody there, not Toyota in Cali.
hey, have you heard anything about the new Toyota FTX truck. Because I am looking at the pictures but it dosent say anything about towing cap or when its going to be realesed. I watched the introduction of the truck on there website but they said mid 2006. But thats all they said. And im looking at the fj cruiser too but i also dont know anything about that. And I went to my local dealership and there saying that tundra isnt comming out with a diesel and if the FTX beats tundra in sales there canceling the tundra line. So if anyone knows about anything, let me know please. You can also email me at omegajt AT sbcglobal DOT net Thanks Everyone

A few thing's to point out number one the ftx is a concept truck from Toyota motor sales and many of the styling element's will be used in the new Tundra planned for 2007 .With this in mind Toyota will not share very much on the Next Tundra yet and given Tundra reputation Toyota will not ditch the Tundra nameplate that will Never happen given "Tundra" represent's the heart and core of Toyota's flagship full sized truck just like the name Tacoma has represented there mid sized truck and been in there inventory since the mid 90's...

Thats what I thought about their flagship sportscar the Supra. Its funny how Nissan can sell their Z but Toyota can sell the Supra

I think toyota is bringing back the supra from what my buddy tell's me that own's a 1996 Supra..Yea I know Nissan been selling the new z and G35 very very well since My girl drives one (g35 2 door). To be honest i dont care for sport's car at all and nither does my back .The worst riding sport car is my counsin older 98 vette and that trip from georgia to florida was pretty bad thus it would not be my daily driver at all..
Yea i heard that they were bringing the supra back too they said there doing training on it right know. And whoever told me that tundra was gonna be gone wasw smoking crack, i just wanted to make sure that they went getting rid of it because we have a double cap tundra and we love it too bad they cant pul more, well does anybody know when tere relesing the ftx anf what the towing cap is on it, later
The rule of thumb for trucks seems to be bigger is better. So I'm sure Toyota will target the current leaders in 1/2 ton towing the Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan. Both tow about 9500 lbs I belive. You can probably expect power, torque, size, and other important metrics for a truck to be near the top of the back or above the pack. They really wouldn't make much of a splash if the new Tundra just kept pace with the current trucks because in three years the Tundra will be competing with fresh new models from the other makes.
