Default anyone suffer blown power steering pump?

I have a 2002 tundra v8 (175k miles). i have not had time to fully investigate, but it looks like all the fluid blew out the very front of the power steering pump itself, all in a matter of a few seconds. really, not sure if seals inside the pump failed or if the high pressure hose/fitting very near the high pressure pump failed. replacement pumps don't look too expensive, but that high pressure hose is really expensive.

well the power steering pump did blow. the bad news is, there is a possibility that the high pressure hose is leaking as well, won't know until new pump installed. these form fitted high pressure hoses are expensive, > $700 i believe. Has anyone tried custom hydraulic shops that specialize in repairing high pressure equipment/hoses? Anyone do this with their tundra high pressure power steering line?

I had both an AC freon and a power steering hose custom made by a local shop that specializes in high pressure hoses (mostly hydraulic). I just took them my old leaking hoses & they made up replacements that were identical as far as custom bends, length, etc. Cost was approx. 25% of what the Honda dealer wanted at that time.

Yep, just bring it into custom place. Usually takes 10 minutes for someone who knows what they're doing. Shouldn't be more than $40

Mine rusted out on my 01 last summer. And yes the Toyota replacement was very expensive. Hope a custom guy can do yours. Wish I would have thought of trying that!
