There are better deals out there. How far are you willing to drive? What options are important to you? Budget? Miles desired? We need more info to help you. I know in Chicago a dealer had a carfax one owner with 65k for 18k they had been sitting on for a bit. I'd keep looking being willing to drive a ways and looking at Autotrader, cars.com, and craigslist can bring you better deals.
great low miles truck. what is the blue book on it?
In my area, E. Oregon, a similar truck would high blue book at $19,800. Used 1st Gen Tundras are scarce in the PNW. I did a Auto Trader search within 100 miles and found 1 2005 4X4 SR5 and it was an AC. If you live in the Puget Sound Basin or the Willamette Valley you will have better luck. There are a lot of 2nd Gen's out there.
2005 DC 4X4 SR5
I picked up the following,
2006 DC
V8
SR5,
4x4, Tow Package, etc...
48k
4 brand new tires
New pads and rotors
Brand new toneau cover
I ended up adding on a $900 Toyota Warranty that covers me till 96k. I paid about $19000 with the warranty and registration fees that popped up. I have put about 700 miles on the truck in the last 3 weeks and I love it. I do not love the $80 in gas every 6 days but hey I got a nice safe and reliable truck to haul my family and my jeep.
Thanks for the feedback. They are giving me high dollar for my trade. I have an '05 GTO that they aree giving me $19k for, i tried selling car on several forums and no one would even get close to that. Factor in the tax advantage on the trade and i am only out about $3,300 in cash. I am sure that
there might be a better price on a Tundra that was similar, however, i am not sure the overall "deal" would be better. I saw the Truck again today as they have been holding it for me while i have been traveling. It really is super clean. I am more concerned with any issues with the make and model.
If the scheduled maintenance has been done by a dealer, you can get the service history at this website: Toyota Owners Official Website: Service Coupons, Owners Manuals, Service Scheduling and More
You have to register, but it is free.
I found that my '05 DC SR5 had been recalled to get the ball joints replaced. You might check that. Timing belt replacement at 90K is a costly, but required, maintenance item (~$800) if the dealer does it.
Generally the '05 -'06 Tundras are considered the best of the Gen 1's. I do not think you will be disappointed with the one you are getting. Mine has >100K on it and still drives and rides like a new truck.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!
2005 DC 4X4 SR5
I have an 05 Double Cab 4x4 and love it. Better than any other truck I have ever owned or ridden for that matter and much nicer than I had expected. On many vehicles previously owned, the experience gets old over time. The truck has been truly enjoyable.
