Have a 2002 Tundra Limited V8 4WD; meticulously maintained; 108k miles; did the timing belt/water pump/etc at 90k.
Just about to go camping for the weekend and guess what??? Dead truck. Here's what happens:
It starts just fine, plenty of juice (4 month old battery); does the normal rev to 1500 RPM when I start it; then dies.
Also has done the following:
Starts, revs, then sputters/hesitates like it's trying to stay on, and then just about dies (dash lights even come on like it dies) but then revs ON ITS OWN to 1500 RPM. Does this a few times then dies.
Very little to no throttle response.
Tank was 1/2 full so I filled it with fresh gas thinking it was bad gas. Still no go - had to get towed back home.
Alternator?
ECU?
Throttle level assembly / throttle motor?
