Default Old Question, New Twist---Another Brake Q

First off, Thanks so much to everyone on this forum--has been extremely helpful.

So here goes. 2000 Tundra that had the TSB done on the front brakes at 35K, so I have the "upgraded" calipers. At 85,000 miles, the front wobble returned, (not a bad run i figure). I turned the rotors and replaced the pads--problem solved. Now, at 95K the wobble has returned yet again (only 15K later). I know that Napa wont let me turn the rotors again, so I guess new ones it is. So the question is.......what kind/brand of rotors should I get for a post TSB rotor replacement? Thanks in advance!!

Turning rotors is no longer the best idea. Rotors are much less complicated and much cheaper these days so just replace them.

Machining brake rotors may seem like a PITA, but how do you know that the "new" rotors that you purchased will run "true"? I've done thousands of brake jobs and replaced plenty of rotors, but I always chucked up the "new" rotors on the brake lathe and checked them for run-out, prior to installing them on the vehicle. "New" rotors can be warped right out of the box, due to being stored incorrectly at the suppliers warehouse, or during transit from the manufacturer. You also have to thoroughly clean the bearing hub to assure a flat mounting surface and check for excessive run out there too. Any deviation from "true" will cause the new rotor to warp prematurely. Also the type of brake pad you choose will affect the ability of the rotor to reject heat and stay true. It seems that there are literally hundreds of different brake pad formulations out there, and not all of them are designed with preserving the rotor in mind. Choosing the correct brake pad for your application depends on many different variables. One must consider these or problems with long term brake performance are sure to occur.
