Default Problems with Fuel Filler Neck ('03 V8)?

I heard the service guys at a Toyota dealership here in Houston saying at around 3500 miles on some of the 2003 V8 Tundras, the "Check Engine" light will come on, and stay on until the fuel filler neck gets replaced by warranty. Has anyone had this problem on their '03? I'm at 6,000 miles and my light hasn't come on...yet. The problem is a pinhole sized opening in the neck somewhere causing the pressure to drop and the ECM throws a code. I'm curious to see if anyone has has this problem.

I apologize for not researching this ahead time, but which numbers in my VIN will let me know if my truck falls in the TSB bracket?

I am new to this forum (and also new to the toyota truck family) so hello, I had my fuel filler neck and gas cap changed at about 3500 miles because of the check engine light. Everything is fine since then.

It would appear that your VIN, if it's for a V8 4x2, is LESS than (BEFORE) the VIN changeover number (4X2 V8 - 5TBRTxxxxxxxxxxxx) .

So your truck falls within the ones that are affected.

    Correct ?

Well, it looks that way. I didn't know if I should be looking at the last 6 digits or the 5 digits after the letters in the front on my VIN. My dealership won't change the fuel filler tube unless my check engine light turns on so they can plug into the ECM. I'll just wait it out.

Jay - welcome to the Toyota family and the TundraSolutions club!

    Default 4,700 Miles

My check engine light came on today at about 4,700 miles. I drove straight to the dealership. The first thing I told the service advisor was I am really good at making sure my gas cap was tightened only one click. He told me that is what they all say. He also told me if the problem was the gas cap not on right he would charge me for their time. I said I think there is a TSB for the filler neck and his reply was he has not seen that.

On check out I read my invoice. It states, ORDERED FILLER NECK PO442. It should be here in 2-4 days.

Had mine replaced about three months ago after a couple "check engine" light episodes. No problems with it since. Now if I could get the bed offset fixed I would be one happy camper.

Just curious, why can't you get the bed alignment fixed? Do they refuse to fix it, or don't they know how?
