Really Hard stop then no power or shifting?

So my dad said that someone had cut him off and he completely stopped on to where the ABS was pumping etc, thereafter it didnt shift and it had no power at all... so he drove it back home and I took over and drove it around the block felt weird had no power and we thought it might be a tranny or converter thing. Then I shut off the truck started it back up and after that it drove like nothing ever happened? Wtf was that?? Was it like a safety or guardian type mode?

That's weird, something must of put it into limp mode, then restarting it reset to back to normal. Could be the barrage of sudden inputs from a panic stop sent the ECU wacko. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to happen under normal driving conditions.

any codes? you'd think a limp mode would store codes. if not, dad's walking from now on!

No codes no CEL I hooked up my scanner to it and it was clear, first time it ever happened! But it runs perfect now! Thought tranny was toast
