Default 5.7L swap into a Gen 1 tundra?

Has anybody done a 5.7L swap into a gen 1 tundra? My boddy has a 05 dc and is thinking about getting a salvaged gen 2 tundra and doing a tranny and engine swap into his. Before we start this project just wanted to check if its been done before and maybe get some tips or if its even possible to do.

From what I know of those motors, they literally rely on recieving readouts from the ENTIRE truck.. all 4 wheels, ABS, axles, ect..

You'd be better of (IMO) finding an LS1, or something of the sort.
Kits, and parts out the ying-yang.. plus MUCH cheaper.. and READILY available.

When my 4.7 is toast I'll be swapping in a Ford 5.4L and transmission, then I'll have a Foyota. But I sure hope I don't have to do that any time soon!!

Of all motors out there, why a ford 5.4? (Not trying to attack you or anything, just curious.)

There is absolutely no way I would EVER contaminate my Toyota with a Ford or Chevy engine...

say what you want about chevy, i hate chevy too, government over priced plastic garbage. but when it comes to motors...they are lighter, have more power, last longer, and have more potential than any similar sized motor from ford or dodge. If my 4.7 blew, I would probably put in an LS1. (and i really, REALLY hate chevy)
Q: "What are the torque specs on these bolts?"
    A: "F***in tight!"

Soon to be LS1 Chevota with a side of 4.7 Tacoma

Amen to that. Just the amount of aftermarket parts and ability to swap out parts in wide range of years is awesome. Also availability of manual tranny is freakin awesome. That should be reason alone to got with an LS motor
Thank you Middletown Toyota in Middletown, CT for painless and quick frame replacement, and awesome customer service.

New mods: Air Lift air spring kit + onboard compressor.
