Default '06 Keyless entry hacked-How to disable system?

'06 ext cab 4x4 limited, thieves walked up took less than 5 sec to hack locks, Truck lights flashed and they opened door. Took brake controller, I-pod, Gps, and loose change all from inside console. Saw it all on security camera, faces hidden, no prints, etc.

Was at local Toyota dealer today and tried to get the broadcast antenna for the Keyless system in the truck, turned off or removed. Tech claims can only deactivate power locking system, but they are querying Toyota on a better solution.

Tech claimed book showed an antenna separate from main computer module, however when wiring traced, plug was empty and wires tied off.

I am currently pulling the fuse at night to disable Keyless antenna, works for now.

Any experience on this or other info?

    Thanks

I'm curious if anyone's ever tried a tapping into the fuel cutoff relay to manually cut the pump with a hidden switch. I've heard about such things being done.

I had an ignition cutoff switch on my first car and a cheap alarm. The thieves were able to work around the alarm and break into the car, but couldn't find the kill switch.

The kill switch must have been well hidden. Where did you put it?

I guess I wasn't very clear in what I was looking for.

I don't need another alarm system, nor do I need a secret fuel shut off switch.

If everyone doesn't understand it, OEM Keyless entry systems are now useless to prevent anyone with a "bypass" device getting inside your vehicle. The technology has arrived and anyone with the correct device walks up to your vehicle, and in a few seconds literally, the device queries the cars computer, gets given the code and activates your Keyless system as easy as you do when you press the "unlock" button.

This doesn't yet allow them to start the vehicle, although according to reports, "start button" cars are very vulnerable to being hacked and stolen just as easily as getting the door lock system to work.

My Tundra, vintage 2006, has a key with a chip inside, at present it is still an effective foil in stealing the whole vehicle.

My request is to deactivate the antenna that communicates with the Key fob to stop anyone with a "bypass" device from opening the doors and getting into the cab. While they cannot as yet start and steal the truck they can steal anything inside, and also vandalize the interior. Apparently the teens employed by theft rings have no way past a keylock as they only carry one of these new bypass devices.

This is very new to the car theft world but if you want info just look for it anywhere on the net, Keyless devices are pretty well obsolete now that the systems behind them have been solved, hacked, and bypass devices are now for sale on e-bay.

As usual the Police and the car manufacturers are way behind but when I was at the dealer they inadvertently admitted the newer cars all come with a "turn-off" inside the main computer to completely disable the "keyless" systems, seems they knew this was coming.

Because of this, key locking your vehicle and disabling the remote is currently the best way to keep thieves out, until someone comes up with a new countermeasure in the game of "cops and robbers"

Just short the antenna to ground or maybe only cut the cable from ur alarm which controls ur central lock to open the door.

As I stated in my first post the Tech followed the book and traced the wiring to the antenna, the plug wasn't attached to any antenna and was tied off from the factory. The factory manual shows only an alternate possible antenna inside the main computer which cannot be shorted to ground.

I understand that I could cut the wires to the central locking system, however I prefer not to solve this puzzle that way, I am looking for a solution that leaves systems working and only disables the Keyless system.

Actually, it was for an 81 Buick Regal Limited and it was tucked away behind the glove box. The glove box opened enough to reach behind it with a 1.5" to spare so I could screw in a toggle switch you couldn't see, but feel for it. I could do the same to my Tundra if I wanted to since there's space.

Can't comment on your system; I know the VIP3000 system for my 02 Tundra has a 2' grey wire hanging from the alarm ECU.

Yes, I can attest to this while having door panels off to do my audio install. If the drivers side control module is disconnected the electronic door locks do not work.

Also, 1st-gen tundras do not have chipped keys.

    Thanks Fritz, I'll try that.

P.S. Canadian spec '06 anything have chip keys, Big Brother mandated them.

If it were me, I wouldn't bother. If a thief is determined, he/she will get in your car. All it takes is a small screw driver wedged in the top of the window jamb to pop the tempered glass into a million pieces. Happened in my driveway and was relatively quiet. Locks keep honest people honest. It might make you less of a target than the other guy though sorry your truck got broken into. That feeling sucks'
