Default Spring Cleanup!

For those that may be interested, spring cleanup is underway for the Toy. I decided to add the mods that make the Tundra interesting to me. Will post pics as I proceed. (modaholic here). See homepage for new pics! BTW, I gave up on the S/C option. Taking too long to develop.
New mods on schedule:
.TRD Wheels w/ Toyo 265/75 AT's (done)
.Bedrug and custom made TRD compartment (in progress)
.Electric sunroof (via classicsofttrim)
.TRD Sport Luxury Interior (classicsofttrim)
.TRD Headers

Here is a current pic of jbtoy as we play. This hobby is expensive, but I am enjoying the play.

You will love the sunroof. I had a Solaire 5400 model sun roof put in my Tundra just after chistmas last year. I love it. Best mod so far.

I think the sunroof adds to the enjoyment of cruising with the Tundra. If I may ask, where was your unit installed? I have a date
with Classicsoft in Boston locale. Would like to compare. Was everything up to par after the install? Thanks.

I went to 4 places in the area around Hartford to look at their work. I wanted a place that would be willing to show me the work that they did and let me get a feel for the attitude that they had toward their customers. I guess that I just wanted to be sure befor I let someone cut a big hole in the roof of my new truck that they would do it right. The guy who did it has a little hole in the wall shop but was recomended to me by a BMW dealer in the area. When I went there he was doing a sun roof in a used BMW. He said he did a lot of dealer work. His price was the best of all the places I went to and because I also wanted seat heaters installed at the same time we worked out a pakage deal. ( he could not do the passenger seat because the air bag sensor on that seat was of a type that he had not seen befor and wanted to check with the heater manufacturer befor installing it. they have since come up with a heater that is installed in just the seat back.I have tpo go back for that.) Any way Long story short He did the best work for the best price. Check around your area there may be other places that do the same job. Classic Soft trim in East Hartford was one of the places I went to. Their price for the sun roof and the seat heaters was about $400.00 more than I paid and they were cagy about their work.
Sorry to be so long winded.

Sunroof, never even gave it a thought for the Tundra. Why did you do it and what do youlike about it? If it is a smoke glass only is it hot in the summer? If you crack it for vent is is noisy? How about security?

Thanks. That will help for referencing. Do you also have the sliding shade on your unit? I presume the controls are located in the overhead mini map light console? mmmmmmm. Heated seats,
now, I did not even think that was an aftermarket option. Sure must help on the cold NE mornings!!!!!

I know the ? was for Bert, so let's see what he says. Here is my take on the sunroof. The electric units have the sliding shade, so that keeps out the heat when not in use. Noise not a problem, no different than having the windows open. (plus you can hear the exhaust better, For security, if someone is going to mess with your truck, they are more likely to try the sliding rear window. Unless it is a 90 deg.+ day and want A/C, the sunroof offers fresh air and a feeling of an open cab, IMO. Long response, but, I think it is a great addition for the Tundra. Who knows, it may be a factory option in 2 years.

Your photos are beatuiful (actually your truck and the install are beautiful). I am convinced about the sunroof after looking at your photos and reading Jbtoy's response.

Question?

Hate to be rude but what kind of prices are you charged for a Inbuilt sunroof installed? Is it more than 1K, 2K or ???

Rude? Heck no. If we do not ask, how are we going to find out.
Mileage may vary by region, but, I think the range is close.
Full electric slider, auto close, auto retract (read, if your head is in the way, it will retract automatically for safety) sun shade, new headliner, controls in overhead map light console. Plus, unlimited access to view the moon/stars at night! Oh yes, the price is ~$1200. I have a date on 5/20 for the install. Plan to document
the process and results.

IBTG2

The cost of my my sunroof was 1K. It took 2 days to have the work done. 1 day to cut the roof and get every thing sealed. Then it has to sit over nightand cure befor they put in the new headliner and button every thing up. Unfortunatly I have no pics of the work being done.This was befor I found this site. Who knew there would so many people interested in pics of a half done job,LOL. Like I said I was realy nervous when I had it done. I had had my truck for les than 2 months when I had it done. No regrets now though. It's the best mod I've done.

bkelsey;

Your picturse have convinced me that this is a beautiful mod and worth doing. Very clean install.

jbtoy;

I have attached a photo I captured on this site (before it had the crash) showing the headliner out. I would be real interested to know what happens to the support beam across the roof. Obviously, it comes out for the sunroof. The question is does the install include any new stiffners? I am real interested in seeing your install pictures.

Yep, I'm saving my money for this mod.

I will let you know in about 12 days when it is all done. I am looking forward to this mod....though...I will cringe when they cut the first hole in the roof. Ouch!!!!! I do plan to add more insulation/sound proof material while we are add it.

Take lots of pictures. I will get Lon to start a new category for them and bkelsey's photos.

Maybe a category: Body & Paint
