My uncle was able to take his 2004 Tacoma to the dealer before he got the notice, so I'm guessing if you take it in they'll check it out.

Walked into my dealer, no letter, service advisor looked my vin up, affirmed my truck was part of the campaign, and will do the LBJ change, no questions asked.

Had the SSC 50J Recall (LBJ) replaced today, they re-aligned the front end as part of it.Had it re-aligned to DJ's specs. While it was in there, they ordered another CAT(17410-0F030) and gaskets(90080-43036,90917-06083) to replace the clogged CAT on Bank 1--Warranty work.
Had them change the oil, while it was in there( with my oil & filter)....cost me $8.55 and about 4hrs waiting time.

Had my 02 Tacoma DC 4x4 done about a month ago (without recall notice) steering still feels a little stiff. Guess I'll check out the bushings and stuff after I'm done lifting my new 06 Tundra DC 4x4 in a week or so.

Ok, driven the toy all weekend and I didn't notice any change in the suspension after having LBJ recall done . My toy had almost 29,000 miles on it however . In addition, I got a free alignment out of the deal. Was not sure if I needed it but do hit and run over a lot of sidewalks. At least the one going up my driveway twice a day. Was told that I did not need the recall notice/letter from toyota but brought it anyways. Low and behold when I got home I noticed that I did not have the notice/letter any longer. Taken. I guess they did want the notice/letter .

Mine was just at the dealer, a 2002 model, for a ton of repairs and no one mentioned this recall at all and I have not received a letter about it.

I called about it today, they said Toyota is doing it in stages, two mailings have been done. I asked about mine and they told me when it came in for service they run the VIN number and if there were any recall notices the would have let me know.

Thumbs up Fixed Nicely!

I had not received a letter so I pulled into Toyota of San Bernardino to inquire about the recall. The Service Advisor looked up the VIN, informed me I was part of the recall and would I like to have the work done today?

I didn't really have the time to wait...He asked if I needed a rental. Sure...what will that cost me? "Complimentary", he replied. "Do you want a truck?" I said, "Sure, how about a 4X4 Double Cab?" He checked, one was available and I had a Double Cab for the day!

Got the work done in about 5 hours. They could have at least taken a couple of days! That Double Cab was sweet!

Hats off to Toyota of San Bernardino...Great Service!

Brad

ive noticed people complementing california dealers for the good work and treatment of customers, i wish the dealers in florida would take note becouse they suck all around in tampa.

i have dealt with texas dealers and calfornia dealers on the phone and california beats texas hands down they are polite and dont give you a hard time if you cancell an order the day after.

think why we live in an area called (Southeast Toyota LLC) there customer service flat out suck's and you have to complain to the right people to get thing's done...California and texas seem to have better service as a wole vs the southeast toyota..This is why I buy all my part's out of state from www.anythingtoyota.com based in texas there service is great and I am dealing with down to earth people who research thing's out vs the problem's i have ran into my own dealership's(stealership) in my area who think there doing me a favor and doesn't reseach thing's out. I have mentioned this to Toyota they need to improve the service in the southeast region I don't put up with period never have. coarse I am pretty dam pickey knowing about Tsb's so they dont mess with me..

This experience applies only to the service and parts people...buying a Toyota in California is a whole 'nother deal...
