I see several posts from members talking about numerous recalls they've had! I discussed recalls with my Dealer and they reminded me that Toyota has never been forced to conduct a recall, they have been voluntary Campaigns and not Government mandated! This is another reason I purchase Toyotas and not from the big domestics. The big domestic companies tend to not to do anything unless forced too! I'm not taking away from the safety aspect of this discussion but feel it's only fair to remind others that Toyota's reputation plays a huge part in the companies success. My neighbor had problems several years ago with a GM product and GM would not help with the headgasket because it was out of warranty. I know a guy who just had a new shortblock put in his Toyota because they had a problem with the Headgaskets. I was impressed, as he has over 200,000 miles and is well out of warranty!
just my two cents!
Ha, you're right. Funny, I just got a letter from Chrystler telling me that there was a transmission recall on my Dodge Magnum and I had to have it serviced. funny.
As far as the above statement? Balljoints have nothing to do with how the suspension makes a vehicle sit. You're imagining it.

I have a 2003 Tundra and can I assume my Tundra is all set if I don't receive a recall letter. I bought it new about 2 1/2 years ago. Great truck though! I still wish I have gotten the V8.
The 2003, so I've read, only puts out 240 hP with the V8. Is that true? Mine puts out a supposed 271 hp.
With the truck in 4 wheel drive low? Geez, you can climb a hill completely straight up to the moon without even touching the gas pedal Nice.

245 hp on 00 to 04 tundra's v8 (california Tundra's 240 hpv8 ) 4 speed auto
282hp@5200rpm On 05 vvti v8 Tundra with 5 speed..
271 on 06 tundra (vvti) with 5 speed
Wow, I lost 10HP from last year. Jeez. Time for a K&N intake and Diablo chip Naahhhh, mine is plenty plenty powerful. In fact, the only time I EVER full throttle it, is when I'm mudding. And that's just to get the tires to spin really fast to fling the mud off the tires and help traction.

Wow, I was hearing this noise on my 04 Tundra and was gonna take it in tomorrow to have it checked out. Guess now that I know what it is I have something to back it up on
Toyota also has very bad attitude in there dealership service deptment's Maybe I am just pickey but when I have one dealership named Marrietta Toyota that lied in my face about a repair done and wasn't handled correctly on Me being over charged on a warrenty repair I made certain I was getting my money back which I did after I complain to Toyota..It seem to me Toyota dealership's in the Atlanta area are very loose on how they conduct themselves in plublic and I for one dont take there S??T .They also dont care bother to reseach thing's out and we as the customer's know more about the product's then the people who sell them and work on them.Toyota really need's to focus on improvement made at dealership level because I am very much over them and I take my truck to an indenpendant shop because they know how to take care of there customer's and communicate to me as a person ..Quality control is very much slipping because ther service deptment's are rushed on there work and dont bother to care..I have complained to Toyota about my area because pretty much can be expected in a few dealerships around my area on crapey service..This recall is just another prime example on toyota quality slipping and since were at it might as well recall the brakes too since i know that is another area Tundra's are knowen for on problem's
And I seriously am tired of hearing complaints about service departments. No matter what vehicle you own, service departments are made for people so dumb that they are unable to even spell their own name. I mean, taking your truck to a dealer for an oil change? C'mon. Drop it off and/or wait long periods of time for something you can do yourself in 5 minutes? It's utterly rediculous. It saddens me that the American population consists of people so ignorant that they can't even change a screw or bolt without having to take it to a dealer. Only in America. "ohh, I'm so helpless and stupid...I can't even tie my own shoe...I wonder if the dealer can do that for me too." Typical American. Americans, like no other country, want everything done for them for free. Such lazy people we are.

speak for yourself some of us have dealt with Toyota longer vs your 06 Tundra.
The brake issue took Toyota 3 year's in the making for a so called Fix and wile the seemed very Long in My opinion the overall issue is lack of following up on redesigning the overall part's. The customer in the since has more knowledge about the product's than the people we take our truck into service with ... Toyota service is generally pretty loose and some STearlerships have no clue on what there doing.I dont expect anything to be Free but I will expect thing done in a timely manner and Not to return 4 times on the same overall issue this can be a huge issue in my opinion.
I've read about that break problem. My truck stops on a dime, so I'm glad they at least fixed the problem.

Now the question still is, if you have an '04 etc, would they have sent out a notice to the owner because of the recall? I have never recieved one, but then again I haven't been there for awhile.
Just had both lower ball joints on my '03 replaced this past Saturday and I can feel a definite difference in the handling of the truck.
Now for my gripe...
It was the worst visit I have had at the dealer. I brought the truck in for it's 35k tune-up and the lbsj's. The service writer says it should take about 4hrs for everything. Since they usually get my truck out an hour or two sooner then they say I was cool to have to wait, brought the mountain bike to kill the time. Well at 4 hrs they tell me , "...only another 30min including the alignment."
Ok, I see the mech pull the truck of the rack and back into the service bay. He comes over and says the parts department gave him the wrong part. i think he should have checked before installing them but that is just me. He gets the new ones, goes to put them in and realizes once again they gave him the wrong part. Three times this happens. The mech seems to know what he is doing but does not check the part numbers.
Anyways, after 6hrs they pull the truck up and say it's done. I crawl under to check things out and realize the oil was not changed, they never check the brakes and I KNOW I need new rear pads and all the fluid levels are still low. Plus, the alignment is now off (even after they aligned the front) so I am bringing it to a guy who I usually have do it. Another thing, way did it take them so damn long? When the mech had to remove the wrong joints and replace them he was able to do it in 35min.
The only reason I even bring the truck in is because my wife though it would be a good idea to get the service coupons when we bought the truck so I might as well use them. Needles to say, this is my last trip to a dealer and I will be doing my own work like I used too.
Now the question still is, if you have an '04 etc, would they have sent out a notice to the owner because of the recall? I have never recieved one, but then again I haven't been there for awhile.

Just to be safe, you should check with a dealer. They can cross-reference your VIN and see if you need the work done or not.
I never received any notice/letter from toyota, but when I took mine in for scheduled maintenance, they checked my VIN and told me that my vehicle falls under the recall and needed the replacement work done on it.
and search for your specific vehicle. It also gives you vehicle information and pricing in your area, on the same page (which I don't need) but what the heck, it gives you the recalls, if any, at the top of the page.
I mean, taking your truck to a dealer for an oil change? C'mon. Drop it off and/or wait long periods of time for something you can do yourself in 5 minutes? It's utterly rediculous. An Oil Change is not worth me wasting my time or getting dirty over. I can do it and Much more but a simple oil change is about the ONLY thing I take it to the dealer or shop for. Just another point of view for you.
