Someone posted 2 pics of a messed up lower ball joint that broke off ... anyone have them or know the guy? Id like to see them, I think he had like 300k miles and this isnt the first time its happened.
His username is Propak, the photos are on page 3 of this thread.
Upgrades: PA 3" Body Lift, Powertrax No-Slip rear, Detroit ezLocker front, Fabtech/Fox front, Wheeler's AALs, TC Front Diff Drop, 16 x 8 MB Wheels, 285/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs, Pioneer Head Unit, Infiniti Reference speakers [front and rear], 150 W bridged amp to bandpass enclosure, 6 CD changer with IR remote, iPod mini and xm hardwired into stereo, Toyota drop in bedliner, and Tonneau cover
I'm hoping all the complaining I've done to the NHTSA and Toyota will pay off.
Why are you complaining? The tundra has one of the best crash test ratings out of any full size truck on the market!

DUDE, i did read the thread and i know wtf your talking about but the NHTSA deals with CRASH TEST and there ratings. If you want to bitch to anyone, bitch to Toyota. They are the ones who will fix the problem, not NHTSA. See wtf i am talking about?

Brendon Did read the wole thread In fact we all did ..Tundra does have a good crash rating too however seem's theres more exposed long term reported issues on the Tundra again. I Think Toyota doesnt need to be quiet about them and expose the real truth about problem's and fix the truck's involved and the very good thing about this site is we all share a passion on liking the truck just wished Toyota Motor would have the ball's To do thing's right as with any company they remain quiet and buy out people which is plain wrong .
yeah sorry to be so hostile. I bought this Toyota with HIGH expectations, as we all did.
I actually submitted the details of the accident through my insurance company. The NHTSA contacted me asking me to fill out a bunch of forms stating my claim re: faulty lower ball joints. They admitted to me this was not an isolated incident and they were compiling a case for a recall. My Toyota dealer refused to help me with anything regarding a "possible future recall" So I've been waiting for Toyota to step up to the plate and take care of their customers. UNTIL THEN F*CK TOYOTA MOTOR CO!!!
The NHTSA called me back today with info on the recall procedure. Most of the info is already in the thread but she did say letters would go out to the oldest Tundras first (like mine). Also, even though I had both right and left ball Joints (and everything else) replaced I would still need to take my vehicle in to ensure they put a non-faulty part back in. I'll be waiting in line with everybody else. Crap.

dude i hear you i dont take there crap either and they better be direct and honest with me or else
On this Tundra recall ( starting in July ) is anyone aware of what parts will be replaced. If Ball joints look okay, will they stop work at that point or try to reinstall them ( not a good idea ). Will bushings be replaced? One would assume a wheel alinement would be included. Does anyone have more detail. I would ask my local dealer but my level of trust is tempered by what appears to me, to be a greedy service department. Today they told me it would be a $100 dollars to change the fluid in my transfer case. I think not!
This recall...I can see why everybody gets irritated when their vehicle gets recalled...and I understand that interpersonal communication between people, especially service managers and customers can go sour sometimes...alot of times...
But I don't see how the quality of Toyota can be called into question so quickly...
I've got a 2003 AC, with over 50k on it...and the vehicle is in fantastic working condition. In high altitude (Denver), it's seen two winters here, as well as summer...and mine continues to impress me. My tires don't wear in strange patterns...My brakes work great, my transmission shifts smoothly...I can still let go over the steering wheel and drive for a half a mile before it will begin drifting.
This is strictly my personal opinion...but sh!t does happen sometimes. It's a pain in the A$$ to deal with taking anything to a dealership...but...O_O
That's just how it works.
I had to take my streetbike in 2 months after I purchased it...several times for a faulty carb. They repaired the float which was stuck on an imperfection...went bad again, they replaced the entire thing...worked great...had a starter clutch go bad...went back.
But my opinion of Yamaha is still high due to their past.
...Just my two cents.

I agree with your assessment. At least they're replacing the defect unlike Ford with their plastic cover between the fuel tank and rear end housing or Chevrolet tying a cable onto the left exhaust manifold to hold the engine up when their defective left motor mount broke.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
