1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled ""8 years later" 2000 Tundra owners post here", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
My '96 Pre-Tundra (T100) just rolled past 200K. What a great truck!
My '02 Tundra still has less than 36K... Also a great truck
we need to get you on more road trips like me
or you can join us for the next meet In N.c....the last meet we held was a blast and a little muddy too ...

Still going here, i'm at 47,6xx going strong. Things that I've had covered under warrenty were the serpentine belt, tensioner, passenger side exhaust manifold, o2 sensor, and the bed re-adjusted (bed squeeks). Need to go in and have the lock on my window looked at though. Still having fun with the truck though.
1 set Dunlop OEM garbage (lasted 10K miles) and three other sets of tires
I'm still running my original Dunlops at 57K. The rest of the truck hasn't done as well. I've turned drums and rotors twice, replaced cracked manifolds, water pump, busted rear window latch, had chipped paint, creaky dash, seat belts slow to retract, tranny shifts hard, arm rests worn, engine rattles, etc. I still like the thing and will probably keep it forever unless the tranny goes out - still might. The mileage is good at about 17 mpg, it's smooth, fast, and fun to drive. Reliabilitly is probably pretty low for a Toyota, but on a par with the last new Fords that I owned. Gotta keep it because the new ones are too ugly.

93K miles and loving the truck. I have had two issues:
I just did the 90K timing belt at Pederson Toyota in Fort Collins and through some persistance was able to get the major brake upgrade for free ... they did it with Toyota "Good Will" money. Brakes have never been better.
I guess I'm sort of numb to it's faults, but I just love my 2000 Tundra
LTD. Bought it used with 8K on it and haven't had any problems in
64K miles. I average about 17 MPG, use regular and she runs like
a champ. I pull a 26ft Travel trailer that weighs about 6K and I
average 8.5 to 10.0 miles per gallon depending on how hard I push
the pedal down. We have made the 1,400 mile trip to Florida every
year since 2002 without any problems.
Annoying things: Noisy engine on cold morning, sounds like the
diesel I wish I had, doors that won't stay open, seat belts that
won't retract, paint that chips, windows that rattle in the open
position, antenna that won't tighten, grill emblem that rattles you
can hear it in the truck, winter ping ( told to change the brand of
fuel).
But do I love it, I look at 1 ton Diesel Pickups every Sunday morning
when I go for my coffee but will I love them as much as my Tundra.
Can't chance it yet.
131k here. Typical front brake problems. On my 3rd set of rotors.
Dreaded starter died last year at 100k. Did the timing belt/water pump also as scheduled maintinance. Other then that, just oil changes and one tune-up. On my 4th set of tires.
A rattle or two here and there. Truck is more then I expected. Still runs and drives great.
Alot of those miles are stop and go across town driving and also pulling a 14' enclosed box trailer. Also alot of four wheeling.
I plan on trading for a New Tundra next year. Diesel I hope.
How much did the starter and timing chain and water pump cost to replace
I just bought mine ('01 ,however, built in '00) with 108k miles. I love it despite the dreaded cracked exhaust manifold. I got the headers; I just need to find someone to install them cheap.
152,000 miles and nothin' but fun! No major work and lots of mods. Latest mod was upgrading my exhaust to glass packs. Man, sounds saawweeetttt!!!! Knock on wood I've had not a problem one with brakes.
We spend a lot of time off road and hauling a Honda Foreman 4 wheeler, in addition we camp often with a 26' travel trailer.
The money I spent on this truck could not have gone to a better or more trustworthy vehicle.
