1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Recall", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Seeing that it's almost 2 weeks into Sept. has anybody gotten their recall notice on the ball joints yet? Originally they were supposed to go out at the end of July or did that change.
From what I've read and dealer confirmed the notices will go out over a phased approach so dealers aren't swamped. You could receive as late as December. I haven't received mine yet, either.
Called Toyota last week and asked if they had any Info for me about the recall. I was asked for my VIN, which I provided and was given a reference number to give to my local Toyota dealership which does my warrantee work.
Next day brought it in and an hour and a half later on my way.
Saw the bill submitted to Toyota for the work at $436.00
When I first called the dealer about the BJ recall, they said I needed the letter. Well I called today to make an appointment and told the advisor I received my letter. In case I don't receive the letter in the next 2 weeks, what info is on the letter that I may need when I get to the dealer? Anything other than the service campaign number and your VIN on the letter? My plan is to show up and say I left the letter at home by mistake. They will have the time blocked out for my truck, so I don't see how they can turn me away. However, I did verify with Toyota's Customer Service number that I am part of the recall.

from what my dealership told me he said that its still going to be a while until they get all the recall letters out. I just went down there and said i needed them fixed and that i was leaving the state and they fixed them the next day no problems
Thanks for posting the letter Glenn. Hard to believe they wouldn't put the VIN on the letter and address it directly to the owner, but what the heck. I'll present the letter if requested.

They put the VIN on my letter and I did need it for the dealer. They replaced mine today, took a couple hours.

This is the sample letter supplied to Dealers. An actual letter received from TMS would contain the vehicle VIN.
