I've noticed this minor issue for quite some time now and decided to go ahead and see what you guys think. At speeds in the 75-80mph range, I notice that my passenger seat shakes a little bit. Even at these speeds, the truck is silky smooth, no vibration, steering wheel has no vibration, etc.
No one has ever complained about vibration while sitting in the seat. I only notice it when the seat is empty. I've checked all four bolts and they are tight. The seat feels solid, I just don't know what it is. Any ideas?????
Thanks,

I have the bench seat and my passenger seat rattles when it is empty at times. If there is somebody sitting in it it does not rattle. I think it has something to do with that roller in the middle of the seat. What I do to fix the problem is slide the passenger seat ahead a few clicks and then it does not do it. rooster
Same here on passenger side and guess what? The driver's seat also moves a bit. I am glad to hear that another wierd features are common with other owners.

Mine does it as well. I thought the rear tires were out of balance but have had them balanced 3 times. I think what it comes down to is our hubs are non-centric and I was told by Discount Tire that they may always have some vibration. It kind of ticks me off but i don't think there is anything we can do about it. The longer I have my Toyo, the more I think I should have got a Ford or a Dodge. I miss the extra power, am about to miss the extra towing capacity, don't like the vibration, hated the dealer, and the truck is sitting lopsided so I need to take it back to the dealer for service. There is a post on here now near the top where people don't even recommend putting on a snowplow. I am moving north soon and was thinking about a snowplow in the future. Why would they build a full size pickup that you shouldn't mount heavy front end accessories on? Also was going to tow my wife's Accord behind the truck from Texas to Maine, but am worried about exceeding our wussy towing capacity with things in the car, 25 gallons of gas, a dog, and my wife. I guess she'll be driving her Honda with the dog. I could have got a Dodge cheaper, and I think I may have had a better experience and a more utilitarian truck. I would want to trade, but I've already lost too much on my Toyo, especially with the $2500 I've put into it for stereo,line-x,wheels,and all the frustration I had with the dealer. Sorry for bashing everyone's favorite truck, but I have had nothing but frustration.

I posted this about a year ago and nobody else had experienced this yet (early 2004 DC). I don't live on here, but I check back from time to time to see if any body has some fixes for some of the "issues" these new DC's have. And yes, my seats "shaked" profusely. Dealer would not fix, so I installed 2 eyebolts to the rear wall that sandwiched the back seats together so they couldn't rattle. Then installed another to the passenger side wall and jammed an umbrella between the center console as well as put a few soft cloths down between the seats to stop the leather on leather rubbing. It's a shame I had to rig something up to solve this problem, but I couldn't stand it anymore. Everything I did is virtually unnoticable and worked. Also make sure your tires are in spec, Toyota has had a bunch of bad batch 2004 R17" tires come out. Mine were bad and that caused alot of vibration (but the seats always rattled). Hope some of this helps.
There has to be something out of whack besides the actual seats for them to vibrate like that. Everyone is talking about dampening and wedging their seats, but there is a mechanical underlying issue that needs to be corrected. I mentioned tire balance and people are still talking about the seats. I can feel the vibration in mine, it has nothing directly to do with the seat. Since my truck sits lower on the right, I am thinking maybe the suspension is the issue if tire balance isn't. Can faulty leaf springs or a slightly leaky shock cause a vibration?

Well the seat shakes mostly when I go over some bumpy roads or something like that. It doesn't typically do it while I am driving on a smooth road. It's just noticeable when the road is rough. I just was hoping that it was something that could be tightened. It's almost like in the movie Contact when Jodi Foster is shaking in the chair uncontrollably but when the chair breaks loose it's floating quietly. I am thinking that just the design of the chair tends to vibrate when there is vibration in the truck. Sounds like a lot of people are experiencing it but nobody knows what the cause or the cure is....
