Default importance of tune up

I have not yet gotten the recomended tune up at 40000 miles yet on my tundra... Could I be getting less gas mileage due to this???

15,000/30,000/60,000 mile tune ups. Usually are the intermediate tune ups. Anything at the 5,000 miles they usually change your oil, rotate your tires and crack open a cold one .

Yes. New spark plugs, air filter, and a throttle body cleaning alone can significantly impact the performance of your engine and your gas milage.

I bough mine with 64000 on it, the previous owner was good with maintains but for some reason skipped the plug changes. Toyotas "certified" inspection missed the plugs also.
I will go over a vehicle bumper to bumper when I buy one and found the original plugs still in place. They had winded to .050 gap. Changing the plugs and cleaning the TB made it run like new could not believe the improvement. Do it!

I have been trying to find the time to get my DC in for its' 15k maintenance. When I checked the Maintenance Guide included for my 04, it does not indicate any spark plug change until the 30k mark. Up to then it's only oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections.

Default 40k Maintenance and Gas Milage

After rereading this thread, I realized that my first post may not be correct. I interpretted your post to read "I have 40k miles on my truck and have not had the 30k maintenance done" vice "the 30k maintenance was done and now I'm at 40k on my truck."

If the latter (30k maintenance WAS done) is what you meant then the more correct answer to your question is no. If you meant the former, then my first response stands. The scheduled 40k maintenance listed for my truck is just an oil change.

Just trying to be clear about things.
