Default 3750 mile service

Brought my '05 Tundra in for 1st oil change at 3000 miles. Thought that was standard considering I couldn't find anything in my manual stating otherwise. I do think I read something here about people changing oil at 1000 miles. Anyway, I get my service sheet and in the recommended service section I see 3750 mile service for $79.95.

1. What is this?
2. Where is this in the manual?
3. I assume that 3750 service includes oil change so now what?

Thanks.

When you bought the Tundra you should have been given the "2005 Scheduled Maintenance Guide" It shows the recommended interval for maintenance and what should be done at each. The first is at 5000 miles and recommends changing oil and filter, rotating tires, and brake inspection. I don't see why that would cost $80.

That's what I read too Tempetom. Without getting the BS service sale job, I thought I would check here first. Will call my dealer to find out what the heck that service is.

Sorry, for taking up thread space with this question.

Called my dealer and they said that's just some glitch in their computer system and I am to ignore that service recommendation.

Question

Nevermind about taking up space, that's what this place is for...Besides what dealer doesn't offer the first oil change/service for free?

Marty,
Save a lot of money. Read the maintenance section in your owner's manual and follow that. The dealership is an expert at pulling money from your pocket. Even if they have cheap oil changes, they'll gouge you for everything else. You only need to go back to the dealership for warranty repairs. Everything else can be done by an independent shop or by yourself.

5000 mile oil and filter changes are good.

Default Maint Package

I bought a maint package that covered all scheduled maint up to and including 60,000 miles. Paid $800. Was that a good or bad idea?

I'd say bad idea... i'm not a mechanic, but I think they barely put in $100 in parts/fluids... on top of that its probably just labor.
I like doing things myself it all possible (with the assistance of a good chilton/haynes maintenance book)...

Some of the scheduled maintenance would cost quite a bit to have done. If you don't intend to do it yourself and it's done consciensiously at the dealer's, it sounds like an OK deal to me. All this dealer maintenance is new to me since the 96 Acura I bought in 97 turned out to have a voided warranty. I wouldn't take that to a dealer for anything (and never needed to).
