1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Anyone put on a front mounted hitch?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I could actually see some practicality for an application like this--my father-in-law has a boat/camper dealership and could use it to move things around a little easier than a rear hitch. Personally, I've never seen one mounted on the front...although I can definitely see for Fords/GMs/Dodges!!!
I've just recently bought one from a TS.com member. Bolts right up to the front of the frame, according to the instructions, with a single class II receiver in the center. Haven't installed it just yet, as I spent Sat. 2 weeks ago, adding a 2" lift to my DC. After that job, I felt like I needed a small break!

My grandfather had a ball mounted to the front bumper of his '87 Suburban and used it to launch his boat. Of course, that was back when trucks had real bumpers, instead of a plastic sheet covering a block of styrofoam. Worked great for pulling the boat out - easier to maneuver, and kept the drive wheels high and dry.
I had one pre-accident and gave it to member chrislloyd. It bolts up directly to the existing tow hook locations. You do have to cut the plastic gaurds. I ended up just removing them. Here's a pic:
