1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "06 Tundra", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have a new 06 Tundra.
i spent morths researching, then finding the truck i wanted.
I have a Dbl Cab 4x4 with the V8 4.7L, with the third kind of TRD, bilstein susp, fog lamps, ...the standard trd, basically.
I want to modify it...so what should I do?
Here's how i will use it:
I'm moving into my new house in lake tahoe over the next few months.
i wanted a truck that could move a good amont of stuff while granting its passengers great comfort.
Here is my plan:
Bed Cap, Line-X Bedliner, JDA Headers, Flowmasters dualed off, and a True Flow filter kit.
i want to maximize power while keeping efficiency in mind.
i want to give the truck a throaty growl but not too loud. no, seriously...i want a 'kind' growl. i go to work early and i dont want my neighbors to hate me.
anything else worth it?
what about chip upgrade? where should i go?
please advise on bed cap (tonneau cover) and bed liner choice.
also, please help with wheel/tire selection. i want classy and bold, high end and unique. not eclectic....not too bad ***.
I recently installed a Magnaflow in my 05. My initial impressions were sour........it was way too quiet. It may have added a hp or two, but I honestly cant feel any difference. After a week, its coming around and now "almost" sounds healthy. Flowmasters are loud, but are NOT powerbuilders despite their claims. Plenty of other muffs out there kick their butts in adding hp. As far as a bedliner, I put in a Bedrug, and it is awesome!
I havent tested their claims as far as stains, but it looks and fits great. Its easy on the knees with a shell, and can be removed if needed. It simply velcros to the inside of the bed. They arent cheap, but I doubt they are much more than LineX. After being a bodyman for years, I've learned to dislike the LineX, Rhinoliner products. Mainly because of having to deal with bed bolts that were covered in the stuff.
Anyway, check it out... www.bedrug.com/bedrugs.htm

Check out v8toilet's profile and post about this muffler. Everything else on the list you have is good in my opinion. I have a set of JBA ceramic coated and they're awesome. Keeping the engine bay cooler is always a good thing.

I've recently installed the Banks Monster Exhaust system on my Tundra DC.....WOW, its got a GREAT throaty sound when you're on it, but is just a low rumble at idle. No drone.....seriously nice.
Aloha, Garey

I did the borla exhaust straight from the dealer. It sounds ok. Not to loud. Not to quiet for me....im used to flowmasters. I like the way they look better than they sound. Good choice in my opinion.
