I read that you can identify if you have a limited slip diff by looking for a sticker on the rear end, but i dont have that sticker. Is there another place to see if i have a limited slip? I bought the truck a year ago, and the dealer said that it did but im not sure. I don't feel anything kicking in like it comes on, but i was wondering if the clutch pads may be worn out on it and that is why I don't feel anything.
or jack up the rearend and spin the tires, if they spin the same direction at the same time , you have limited slip.I f they spin opposite then you have reg diff.

Well, whether or not you "have" the lsd, if it doesn't work, then you might as well not have it! So go to a parking lot, and let that throttle rip! If you leave two patches of rubber, then you've got it. If it's just one, then you either don't have it, or it's not doing it's job very well.

Not entirely true. I currently don't have an lsd and mine will leave to black streaks equally. As said earlier, jack the rear and turn the wheels.

You can also piss off your wife. Mine laid two nice patches of rubber in the driveway. After she did it I totally forgot the crisis at hand and thought " Wow, I have LSD"!!!

If you dont have a sticker that says LSD oil only then you dont have one...
I did notice a sticker back there, but it doesn't say anything on it. What ever was printed on it wore off, because of the elements. I also jacked up the truck and spun the tire and one went forward and the other went in reverse, I know that it means that its an open diff but could I have limited slip and the clutch packs in it are just worn out. Like I said I bought the truck used with 58,000 miles on it and it now has 66,000 miles and I don't know if the previous owner ever had the diff serviced, because I bought it at a Lexus dealer.
Thanks

Unless your truck is a very late production '01 it is highly unlikely to have a factory LSD as they were not generally available as an option until the 2002 model year. Possible to have aftermarket Kazuma or other brand as they are avaulable for the '01.

It sounds like an open diff to me. By simply jacking up and turning one wheel by hand, you would unlikely be able to spin it and observe opposite turning with even a worn out lsd, at least not without some effort.
If it were present and even somewhat functional, the wheels would not turn at all unless the tranny is in neutral. Only then would they spin together.

Mines a 2000 SR5 4WD built 9-26-99 and it HAS the factory LSD rear end. It was coded in the build sheet. Along with ABS,DRL's and The weather guard package. It is quite notable when in the dirt that it has it. Dont really need 4wheel much with it just when it gets real steep our I am loaded to the gills.....
