Removing the lower bumper grille on a DC?

So I bought a billet grille for my 2005 Doublecab for the lower bumper grille. This is the smaller 3 inch grille on the bumper between the fog light openings. The problem is that this grille mounts on top of the grille that is already there and it sticks out and does not look very good. Is there any way to remove the lower grille so that I can recess the billet grille? If possible, I would like to avoid cutting the grille out. I was hoping that it is clipped in there somehow. Then I could make a custom bracket to hold in the new billet grille. Thanks!

The lower grille is part of the bumper not bolted in, its not painted so it looks seprate only way to flush mount would to cut out the grille hope this helps..
