Default Help me with my 06 Tundra DC keyless entry

I just bought a 06 TRO SR5 Offroad DC. It has keyless entry. I went to parts tonight at the dealer and they only have a glass break sensor for a security option. Is this the alarm part for the keyless entry? I want to add the security system part to the keyless entry but the dealer and internet are of no help. Any ideas?

Sorry, but the only thing you can add to a DC (04,05 & 06) is a glass breakage sensor.
The AC is the only one you can upgrade to the full alarm. NO THE AC ALARM WILL NOT WORK IN A DC. The entire electronics of the vehicle are different and dont interchange. Believe me I TRIED ON MY FATHERS DC (05)
Toyota wont tell us why, we just have to live with it or go out and get yourself an AFTERMARKET ALARM. There are some very good ones out there.
Sorry for the bad news

Got my aftermarket alarm installed for less then $120.
It's a "rattler" made by the same co. that makes the viper and it has a lifetime warranty.
Went in early, and it was done in 45 minutes.

So if I install the glass break sensor what happens then? Let's say the glass is broken by a crook; does just the horn sound? I can't believe for $200 that is all that happens. Has Toyota dropped the ball on this model? I just might have to buy the part and see.

For any model year Tundra Double Cab with keyless entry only, there is NO Toyota accessory upgrades to a full alarm system.

For Tundra Double Cabs with the factory installed Alarm System, there is an optional GBS that can be installed at the factory (option V2) OR as an add-on accessory. The Part Number for the GBS add-on is 08586-0C870.

For owner's who did not receive their DC from the factory with the Alarm System option (standard on Limited, option PN on a SR5), and want to upgrade to a full Alarm System your only alternative is an aftermarket alarm.

NOTE: Please be aware that Gulf States Toyota (GST) dealers and Southeast Toyota (SET) dealers may offer different or additional port installed options (PIO) or dealer installed options (DIO) not available to Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) dealers.

New here, picked up my '06 Tundra DC SR5 three weeks ago. I had the sales guy put 2 Toyota accessories to be installed by dealer on the purchase contract, a bug shield and the VIP 3200 alarm system. I asked for a demo on the alarm system to see if it worked the same as the one I had on my '99 4Runner LTD. It didn't work. When he and I talked to the service tech who supposidly installed it he said he put on a glass breakage sensor. I don't have the factory alarm system so I wonder what the heck he hooked it up to. Service tech said the VIP3200 isn't available for the Tundra. I asked why the heck it's in the brochure and on the Tundra website. Salesguy calls up Toyota regional HQ and they confirm - not available. Aftermarket here I come. Otherwise I like the truck. Alot different driving it than my 2 previous 4Runners, big, wide, and long.

The RS3200 is for Regular and Access Cabs only. The D-Cab uses a body ecu based system. The GBS upgrade are for vehicles with factory theft deterrent. There are no Toyota upgrades for the keyless entry unless you get the alarm option from the factory.

Smile Re: Help me with my 06 Tundra DC keyless entry

Folks I have news. I purchased a 06 DC SR5 about three weeks ago. It has keyless entry on it only. I asked dealer to install security system by Toyota. On Monday of this week I took truck in and they discovered they ordered the parts that fit an access cab only. When they reached out to Toyota they said no part available. However, they then called the Houston port office (port installed options) and they have a Toyota alarm system for DC. It hooks into the existing cables/ECU. Anyway, dealer ordered it from Houston and installed it yesterday. There is a little red LED button where a blank oval panel used to be between dash lights rheostat and outside mirror controls. The horn beeps and the headlights come on and the system is armed when you use the keyless lock. Monitors hood and doors and includes a starter disabler - no idea on glass breakage. Not clear on how the button works. It flashes red when armed and outside truck. Inside truck with it running you can push it in and the led stays solid red. Haven't figured out exactly what it does. May call dealer next week.

Looking at my dealer bill it reads as follows:

job#2 part# 00012-T0420-01 04 TUNDRA DCAB KE $161.98
job#2 LABORCC 4 $60
Total Job#2 $221.98
Dealer new customer discount -44.40

Total installed cost w OK taxes -- $196.49

Hope that gives you something to work with. I am in the Gulf States region in Oklahoma.

Good luck.

Can you post a picture of the alarm/remote/keyless FOB

The part number you posted is not a good part number in the TOYOTA PARTS DATA BASE.

I have a feeling you have an add-on SECURIKEY alarm which is installed in the GULF STATES TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS.
The GULF STATES TOYOTA DEALER ASSN. Has its own alarm setup called a SECURIKEY.

I would love to make a few of my customers DC's into a full alarms.
Pictures would help alot.
THANK YOU

For that kind of money you can install an aftermarket system the does alot more than any stock system could. My viper has remote start along with a lcd fob which tells me the status of my truck from almost a mile away.

Angry Re: Help me with my 06 Tundra DC keyless entry

Wish I had seen this thread before I bought my 3200 plus by mail order from the internet. I did call the dealer that I bought it from and another local dealer and they both told me it would work for a 2006 double cab. But there is no spot on the left cluster panel for the monitor and the electrical system is totally different.
