1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Navigation antenna help...", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hello all,
I just purchased the 2006 Solara Navi, and it works great... Thanks Troy of OEMValue.. but one question... Where does one mount the GPS antenna? Where is the stock antenna mounted?
I added a ECLIPSE 5435 NAVI and I placed my antenna on the top of the drivers side of the dash under my dash topper. You cant see it from the outside of the vehicle and I always have 4 satellites showing for signal strength. I also installed the same NAVI for another TS member and so far she hasnt mentioned it to be a problem, so I am good with it there.
if you dont have a dash topper or dont want it on the top of the dash, you could always tape it to the bottom side of the top of the dash, right behind the instrument cluster. Thats where MOST of the factory ones are. Mine got better reception on top so i left it there and its covered. Out of sight/out of mind.

Im installing a 2004 toyota camry nav gps system in my 2003 tundra i have everything except extention wire jumper from gps antenna to head unit where can i locate this jumper it allows ant to plug in unit thanks..
Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I need, but my problem is where do I get the antenna extension? Can't seem to find anyone who has the jumper.
Most people put them inside the dash somewhere. I put mine behind the overhead console so it would work better in tunnels, not that I drive in any...
I placed mine behind my overhead console and couldnt get more that 2 satellite signals to show on the info screen. thats why i moved it on top of the dash, I'd rather have it where you placed yours, but it didnt work out.

I ran mine up around behind the instrument cluster, up the side wall thing where the handle is, and back behind the compass/temperature display, and finally behind the rear-view mirror with some electrical tape and a black zip tie. Note I took off the metal backing, and did NOT have to remove any panels beyond the instrument cluster to get the cord up there.
