Default Keyless Entry Beeps

Anyone know if the beeping for the keyless entry can be changed or turned off? Particularly for the unlock feature. There are just too many annoying beeps when unlocking all four doors. The Chevy guys give dirty looks.

Default Keyless Entry Beeps

Not sure if the 05 is set up the same but the "beeper" on my 03 is located on the left fender well close to the firewall. All I did was put a piece of duct tape (about 2 yrs ago) over the end and if muffled the sound quite a bit. Of course you can also unplug it right there as well.

I just got an 06 DC about 2 weeks ago and the beep did get annoying after a few days. Luckily there is a way to turn it off. I don't remember the instructions off hand but its in the manual and it took me a few tries but no more beep!

email me if you cant find the instructions and i'll look for it!

Thumbs up

SWITCHING BEEP SOUND ON AND OFF
You can switch the beep on and off. (The
beep is on initially and after battery replacement.)
To switch the beep on and off:
With the driver’s door opened—
1. Insert the ignition key and remove it.
2. Within 5 seconds, insert the ignition
key again and turn it to the “ON” position.
3. After 10 seconds, push the same
“LOCK”, “UNLOCK” or “PANIC” switch
twice within 10 seconds.
Two beep sounds inform you that the
program has been switched on or off.
If this procedure is not followed exactly,
the beep will not operate as expected.
Check the beep ON/OFF operation by
pushing the transmitter switch after you
finish this procedure. If the beep does not
operate as expected, repeat this procedure
from step 1.

And what's even better, if you want you can have it programmed so that one push of the button on the remote will unlock all 4 doors at the same time. There is a TSB out there and my dealership did it for me at no cost. I like it.

Too bad we don't have some more options.. My wifes car (Saturn), push to lock once: Flash/no beep. Push twice: Flash / with beep.

Helps when you want to make double dog sure!

yeah i would also like to know how to program it to unlock all 4 doors at the same time. I have an 05DC but it also has a viper alarm upgraded system. so all in all i have about the 2 beeps from the original toyota keyless entry system. and then 2 louder beeps that come after it for the viper system.

On a Doublecab it can be done by a dealer with a handheld tester.

I had my 05 DC done at the dealer when I went in for my 5K service. I simply mentioned that I had read on TS that it could be done and they said they'd look into it. When I went back, it was done. Must of been pretty easy cause they did not charge me for it.
