Default Bridgestone revo tires

I just put new tires on my truck and drove form Los angeles to Vegas and back. Truck is shuuudddering and it comes and goes and it's in pretty consistent intervals. Not sure if the dealer balanced them though. Any ideas?

You have a balance problem. Could be a bad tire but more then likely they messed up on the balance. I have the Rev on my truck and they ride just fine no shaking what so ever.

Romaniac1,

Don't mean to hijack your thread but I had previously asked in the Wheels & Tires forum the question of road balance in which DJ (whom most consider the expert) explained the advantages of getting your tires Road Forced balanced. The thread is here for your review. You can also find more posts in the W&T forum.

I would agree with MEVang except you mention "comes and goes". What does that mean? If it comes and goes with speed, and is consistent at a given speed, then it could be a balance problem. If it seems random, it is something else. Have you checked your lug nut torque?

Lightbulb Balancing

I do remember that the tire tech took a long time balancing my Revo's when I bought them a year ago. He said that he sometimes had a tough time getting the tires balanced properly when he puts a lot of tire on a relatively small rim (I used the stock 16" rims with a tire size upgrade). He also said that it was not limited only to the Revos - any larger tire can be difficult.

E-range load Revos shuddered like a heck on mine even after road force balance.
Dealer replaced w/D range and road forced been smooth as silk since.

How can you tell what the range is? E or D? Now I'm curious what load range I have... Thanks.

Load ranges D and E apply only to LT (light truck) rated tires. P rated (for passenger) apply to the tires that our trucks are equipped with out of the lot. P rated tires typically have lower weight ratings but are much quieter on the road and give a much smoother ride than light truck tires.

Many people feel that they need LT tires on the truck to make it a "real" truck. I think this is a waste of money, as any of the P rated tires will easily handle the load ratings the Tundra can carry. LT tires are more resistant to puncture due to the fact they have more metal in the tread, but they are stiff and noisy.

I have P rated tires on my truck and have overloaded the bed with unseasoned oak many times and never had a problem with the tires or any part of the suspension for that matter. I also carry a 600 lb plow on the front and push a lot of snow on these "inferior" P rated tires.

I recommend you save your money and improve the comfort of the ride by staying with P rated tires. LT tires are for the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks out there... let them have the bone jarring ride.

I put C rated Revos on my Tundra. I am off-road a lot and would be changing tires if I had P's on. I feel the C is a nice mix of comfort and ruggedness.

I also had C range LT Revos 265 75 16 installed on my 05 Tundra and they are a good compromise over P series IMO, the ride is almost as smooth as the P rated BFG Rugged Trails that came with the truck. You also get more tread depth as well with the LT Revos than with the P tire. I also had vibration issues with my first set of Revos. I had all four replaced under warranty and so far no vibration problems with the replacement set. I believe that for anyone having vibration problems a road force balance service is a must. It will tell right away if it is a tire problem or wheel problem or both. It is very possible to have vibration problems that seem to come and go and be more or less severe at times if there is a problem with two or more tires or wheels. If two tires are bad they can cancel out each other's vibration OR increase it depending where each wheel is positioned in relation to the other which would constantly change as when turning corners or spinning tires. I had two bad tires with my first set of Revos and I was experiencing this problem of the vibration being so severe at times I would start getting an upset stomach during longer highway trips but the vibration would tend to subside at times being hardly noticed. Some tireshops are just NOT that good at balancing tires and a good shop with a Hunter road force machine is my recommendation. If the road force balancing determines there is a problem with your new Revos then you could go back and demand to get them replaced under warranty. Good luck.

thanks, I have talked to the dealer and he started to tell me it was maybe tire pressure or my differential. I told him it started shaking the day I got them and that he told me the pressure was all good before I left. So in the end, when I get back to LA, I am taking it back in to rebalance and I already contacted a balancing company. Does anyone know what a high speed balace vs. Road force balance?
