Default Fuel Pump died

My fuel pump died on my 01 Tundra. 88k miles and it just died. Dealer wanted $250 and Autozone wanted $315.

There is a TSB on this item, but only if still under warranty.

I found the Fuel Pump on ebay from seller "global-automotive" for $60.

Fuel pump arrived with all necessary parts and easy installation instructions.

Tip of the day on this item, it is very easy to remove the fuel tank from the truck. Disconnect the three tubes on the right side that go to the tank. Then remove the filler hose and the vent hose near the filler port. Hold the tank in place by placing a 3/4" thick piece of plywood on a lift-jack. This will support the tank. Then loosen the straps that hold the tank in place. Lower the tank and move it to a counter. Remove the screws on the top access cover and be careful when removing this piece as it holds the old Fuel pump. Install according to the instruction and reverse for installation of the tank.

Note, check the fuel tank for debris on the bottom while the cover is removed. Mine was spotless, no debris floating or on bottom. Old intake filter was perfectly clean.

This happened to my old 01 with appx 45k miles on it. Cranked it, backed out of the garage, the truck shuttered and that was it. After an hour I was able to get it cranked back up and taken to a shop. I was out of warranty, but Toyota gave me a 'deal' and said if I'd pay for the part they'd pay for the labor. Luckily my step mom is a Toyota employee, so I got the part at employee cost ($75). The TSB is supposed to add a new type of fuel pump that's supposed to keep this problem from happening.

With my limited mechanical ability I'd be nervous taking out the fuel tank. What did you do with the fuel that was in there...just leave it in as you replaced the pump?
