Smile Type of oil and additives?

I drive a 2000 Tundra Limited Access Cab 4WD. The truck has 83,000 miles on it. I currently use Mobil 1 SuperSyn Truck/SUV motor oil & a Fram Toughguard filter. I am wondering if this is a good oil/filter combination, and if I should be using Lucas Oil Additive (Substituting 1 quart of oil for a quart of Lucas's synthetic oil additve). I am also wonering if anyone has had a good experience using Lucas's transmission additive. What type of mileage should I be able to expect out of the truck before it dies? (Hopefully 200k or more).

Wayne, I've got a 2001 tundra v8 AC 4x4 with about 50,000 miles on it and i've been using mobil one since 30,000 miles, which was slightly after i bought it used from some guy with a huge stick up his butt. Good price thoguh. About your oil, everybody on this site highly speaks of mobil one, but as for the fram they don't like it. I used fram a couple times but decided to stick with the stock oil filter. I have faith in Toyota as do most people on this site.

The lucas isn't a bad thing to use either. It's mostly just potrolium, so it's a lot thicker. My brother has a 1998 ford ranger with 95,000 miles on it. Around 70,000 miles it started to burn some oil, he would have to carry some oil with him to top it off every so often (although rarly and in small amounts) There were no leaks but when he hit the gas hard blue smoke was apparent. After a 5 or so regular oil changes with the addition of one lucas, the smoke has all but disapeared. So I like the stuff. Don't use it in my own truck, don't see the need..........it's not a FORD .

And don't worry about the life of your truck. If you take care of it, ie. changing the oil etc., it will take care of you. One guy recently posted his tundra just hit the 300,000 mile marker. Bad a$$ if you ask me!

No Fram. Fram bad.

If you go to http://bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm you will see an interesting study on the Lucas product you speak about. I don't think it is specifically the synthetic version, but it's an eye opener.
In short, if you use a good oil, and most of the synthetics are great, the act of putting additives in there can mess with the exceptional chemistry already designed into the oil.

I used to be one of those guys that used slick 50, and many other different magic additives, but no more.

You will find more information on oil than you ever wanted to know at the bobistheoilguy site.

Mobil 1 oil and almost any filter besides fram. Toyota OE, mobil, wix,KN, are all good choices.
